So I posted a question about getting garbage on my serial port on my Arduino after uploading my JSON library to it. I mentioned that it worked on my 64-bit desktop but wasn't working on my 8-bit mega. And then a moderator basically told me that's not true, and if I was able to write code that would do that I wouldn't be on the forum asking for help in the first place. When I confronted him about accusing me of lying he denied it. These forums are rude. This isn't the first time I've seen a sour exchange on there, but it's the first time one was directed at me. My 2nd question. If you're volunteering your time to be a moderator and you don't like doing it, you should stop. If you're volunteering your time to be a moderator because you like berating people who ask questions of the forum there's something deeper going on.

Ask Chris for an Arduino forum here - you can ask whatever you want there... and answer it politely... :laugh:

To be fair, "The Arduino forums" means nothing to me and I wondered the same thing, if this was one of the many forums here on CP. CP has the Lounge, obviously, the Quick Answers section and then many different forums on the left hand side. Although I don't recall seeing an Arduino forum here on CP but that doesn't mean much.

You could have answered him: Only because I am better programmer than you will ever imagine in your more obscure and wet dreams, it doesn't mean that I know everything about the Arduino world. There is a difference between not being familiar with the Arduino and not being able to program crazy things that work.

There is none... at least not officially listed. Discussion Boards[^] There is an article section though. Internet of things --> Arduino

I don't have a STM32 chip but I have an ESP32 I ran it on first. The code survived. :)

I have a ton of little IoT SoCs but none with a 16-bit CPU. I wonder if such an animal exists? It would be fun to compile this for a little 65c816 though (the 16-bit CPU in the Apple IIgs and the Super Nintendo)

You could have answered him: Only because I am better programmer than you will ever imagine in your more obscure and wet dreams, it doesn't mean that I know everything about the Arduino world. Looking at what you were told... I suppose not much. Because one doesn't need to be Einstein to see the difference between being able to program and asking a question in an online forum about something you are not that sure and want help or confirmation.

I have been told that too... once in a course to get a new tech for a project (I took it as a compliment) and once by a co-worker :doh: :doh: :doh: X| X| X| and no... I am not kidding.

He was claiming that my code could not run on 8-bit and 64-bit both. He said my claim "doesn't make sense" I verified the noise through the built in Arduino IDE serial monitor. I solved it by removing conditional preprocessor defines i made from the ino file which is mysterious that it was causing the problem, but then the Arduino IDE is a godawful piece of trash and it mangles your C++ code "for you" behind your back so who knows?
