If I still worked for my dad, I would have said 1-ton Dodge dually w/ Turbo Cummins diesel, but I'm a software geek now, so 1/2 ton is big enough for me. Jon Sagara Sagara Software

I have never bought a car over the net. I want to try it first. Right now I drive a Nissan Primera 1.6 SRI from 1996. It was brandnew when I got it and I still love it. Has driven 139.000 km in it :) My wife have a Nissan Almera 1.4 S from 1998, it's also a great car. :) - Anders Money talks, but all mine ever says is "Goodbye!"

If I had enough money, I would have bought a Lamborghini Diablo :-D But reality is tougher than we think, so I bought a Toyota Corolla. BTW: Corolla is the Lamborghini Diablo of its class. :) ;) ;P :-D  Farhan Noor Qureshi

By big, I mean not a Ranger/S-10/Tundra/et al. I wouldn't mind getting an F-350 4x4, but I really don't have a need for something like that. Besides, my wife drives the truck (the Buick and the bikes are mine).

Your comment just reminded me of the guys I used to work with out in Utah. They all drove big F350's and Dodge Ram's etc. They were always making fun of my little Ranger :(( I told 'em it wasn't how big your pickup was, but how well you used it. But they would just push me around and laugh ;) "Want to know what makes me mad? Everything!" The Ranting Swede.

Want a *real* car? Get any one of the following: 427 S/C Cobra (fastest *production* car ever made?) 1965 R-Model Shelby with down-draft Webers or matched Carter AFB's. 1969 Tunnelport Boss 302 1970 Hemi 'Cuda 1969 Chevy Camero 396 SS 1965 Corvette Gran Sport 1965 Thunderbolt Fairlane (with 427 SOHC) Anything else is an also-ran.

Toyota Tazz 1.3, goes damned well for such a small engine and as they say, reliable as hell. Driven from here to hell in back in it and the worst thing that has happened is ending up halfway through a macdonalds sign with a collapsed wall on my bonnet, it was the other guys fault of course ;) Take this a bit further: what car would you drive if you had all the money in the world? For me it is the Mitsubishi EVO VII or VI. Nothing beats it for sheer thrill and attitude. Looks like an outrageous Toyota but goes like a Diablo or 550. My next car though would be an Audi A4. Audi has such class and elegance. Of course inbetween the Audi and my current Tazz I want a Suzuki GXR600. Bikes rock! regards, Paul Watson Cape Town, South Africa e: paulmwatson@email.com w: vergen.org

Have you played Test Drive 6? If I remember correctly, it features a lot of the cars you mention. And, I think in the game the Cobra has the fastest 0-60 acceleration, but then the Camaro (or something similar) blows it away at higher speeds. Me personally, I like fast AND sexy cars. Those older cars just don't cut it. Here are the cars I would have in my garage, in order: 1. Ferrari F355 F1 (gorgeous but expensive) 2. Corvette Convertible (gorgeous and relatively inexpensive) 3. Ferrari 308 GTSi (Yes, Magnum's car!) 4. BMW M3 Convertible (very sexy) 5. Mercedes Benz SL500 (class and style) Regards, Alvaro

S'okay with me. I'll be driving around in my flashy over-powered american muscle cars with chicks falling all over themselves toget a chance to be with me, and you'll be in your garage, wondering how to get that Ferrari into 1st gear. :)

My current car is an Opel Vectra 1.6 and very happy with it. 96000km and not a single problem. :) My next car, if I can afford it, will be a BMW. And my dream car, of course, is a BMW M5.

I had a Jetta for 5 years. It was my parent's, was mine and now is my brother's. It's got almost 300000 km and still like the first day (well, a little more lazy ;) ) I would have bought a Bora when I changed my car in 1998, but VW had stopped the production of the Bora waiting for the next model that was due 6 months later and I could not wait. Good car the RS6, but I still love the M5.

An Audi A4? Why not do it properly and get an Audi S8? Excellence without Excess. Yeah baby! Or for a runabout I'd love to grab an Audi TT convertible or for a weekend in the mountains, a Mitsubishi Pajero Evo. Back on Planet Earth it's a '93 Ford Telstar TX5 SE, V6. Fits 2 mountain bikes, 2 snowboards, and a couple of guys with no self preservation skills. Alternatively, on a good day it's a Merida extreme 907, or on a bad day, my Merida Pro SX. cheers, Chris Maunder (CodeProject)

LOL: "Back on Planet Earth", exactly! Audi A4 because I am almost able to afford one now. The S8 costs just a tad too much. Also I am not a great lover of big cars, in fact they repel me. American muscle cars? ack! The A4 is just right, small enough to push hard and chuck around corners (not to say the S8 is not fast, it just happens to feel a tad big when driving), but big enough to be a great long distance cruiser. Really though that is why I choose the EVO VII as my ultimate car. The 4WD is magnificent for handling and that outrageous engine makes it able to beat virtually anything (including the S8) and keep up with the likes of Ferraris and M class Beemers. Plus it seats 4 comfortably, has a good boot and can go long or short distances without wrestling with gears or keeping the revs up. Of course your idea of having an Audi TT as a runabout is just smashing. Take a trip to the summer house down in Kent or the south of france, what what! ;P regards, Paul Watson Cape Town, South Africa e: paulmwatson@email.com w: vergen.org

Thanks for the recommendation Christian, adding to the many glowing remarks I have heard about the A4. I have seen the new A4 driving around and really I am verging on obsession with it! Those curves just go the right way. Heh speaking of 100.000 km my Toyota Tazz just passed that mark yesterday and it is such a sweet car. For the price you cannot do better, it is the best First Car I can ever recommend. regards, Paul Watson Cape Town, South Africa e: paulmwatson@email.com w: vergen.org

12 units does not denote a "produuction" car as defined by several of the sanctioning racing organizations.

The S4 is a LOT of fun. Not really anything else like it (4 doors, awd, twin turbo V6) in the US. It's pretty cheap to buy a new chip for the engine, and get ~320hp, and ~350 lb/ft of torque. No word on when the new S4's will come out, there wont be any in 2002 (there was a short production run of the current S4's for 2002, but that run finished in July). The soonest we'll see another S4 is maybe 2003, but possibly 2004. There is no word on what engine it will have in it. Now if they'd just bring the RS6 over here....(here is the US) twin turbo 4.2L V8 :) Jim Wuerch www.miwasoft.com Quote from my readme files: "This is BETA software, and as such may completely destroy your computer, change the alignment of the planets and invert the structure of the universe."
