Where are you located? I live not far outside Atlanta in the US and we never shut down completely and have been fine overall.

North or South? I'm Northwest, north of Kennesaw.

I’ve given up trying to be calm. However, I am open to feeling slightly less agitated.

Yes, I know, there was never going to be a 'good' time - but: Cases up 41% week on week. Hospital admission up 40% week on week. Deaths up 48% week on week. I respect everyone's right to now go back to 'normal' if they wish, but I'm staying in lockdown - particularly now that everyone else is 'free' to infect me.

In the UK, where our national sport is breading idiots. If you're really good at it you can earn a living off of it. Well, I assume that's why the ones that do it best never seem to need to work... :^)

Yep. Double jabbed. But 60% of the people in UK hospitals, with Covid, have been double vaccinated - which is not convincing me that I'm safe! Yes, I understand the more people that are vaccinated, the higher that percentage will be - but it's not looking like a 'magic bullet' to me right now. :(

No worry... you are not going to be the only ones for long... As I heard it in the news today I thought: OK, open up, let business recover, but keep masks and hygienic meassures at least... That's something that doesn't really hurt and help but... :sigh: :sigh: :sigh:

60% vaccinated? That sounds odd. In the US %99.7 of those being hospitalised are unvaccinated.

Give it time, the Delta variant only started spiking GA's case count again 2 weeks ago. The UK's IIRC about 2 months into Delta. Right now their biggest problem is that a lot of people there got the Astrazenica vaccine which is only around 65% effective in preventing disease (vs J&J at 80% and Pfizer/Moderna around 95%). With delta having an R0 estimated to be between 5 and 8; 65% isn't enough to stop the spread even with most of the population vaccinated. The vaccines used in the US are more effective, but even if they do manage to continue working well enough that 99% of our hospitalizations are in the vaccinated; we've got so many more people refusing them that we're looking at a 4th wave building over the next month or two. LONDON, July 19 (Reuters) - Britain's Chief Scientific Adviser Patrick Vallance said that 60% of people being admitted to hospital with COVID-19 are unvaccinated, correcting an earlier statement he made on Monday.

OK, that's a bit better. When he said 60% vaccinated yesterday, he did seem quite calm. The rest of us were: WTF! :wtf:

More deaths than cases? How does that work?

Anything possible in statistics. :) ..... It's week on week percentage increase. Deaths are also, currently, relatively low, (200 - two weeks ago; 296 - last week), so it doesn't take many to create a significant % increase.

A bit like me saying "there are no bugs in my code", just before it crashes. :)
