MS Money

I have been using MS Money for personal accounting for longer than I can remember, and I was quite sad when MS stopped it as a product. What would have been really, really great, is that they would put the legacy code in open source so that old farts like me could go on with the updates. I wonder whether it is worth asking for it.
Not only have they stopped supporting it, the MS Money Sunset Edition appears to have been removed from their servers. It's a good thing that I'm a packrat - I salted away a copy of the installation program many moons ago...

Indeed. I could not install this edition anyway because it only supports US language and money, so had to stop in 2015. :sigh:

I have been using it since 2007 and currently run it on Windows 10. I got it for free ages ago and it is perhaps one of the best pieces of software I have ever used for personal use.

Well, you could have exported everything to QIC format and then re-imported it to the newer version. A bit late, now... :-\

:-) What I meant is that the latest version apparently does not support other currency than $$ and is only available in English.

Well, I use it with US Dollars and Israeli Shekels. I have to manually set the conversion rates, but everything appears to work OK for me.

I use it to this day, and had started off my current DB with Money 95. I don't let it go online and fetch anything automatically. What needs updating?

There are a few bugs in mortgage calculations, the trick for using it under win10 and bypassing some old IE functionalities sometimes cause the software to crash or to act weirdly. So updating only for better compatibility with latest operationg system versions.

VMs FTW. I only have MS Money installed under a Win7 VM, and haven't had encountered that. I never tried to install it under 10, and until somehow I can no longer run Windows 7 under a VM, that's probably where it'll stay...
My PC is unfortunately not able to run VM ( Hyperthreading or something is missing), so not an option for me unless I buy a new PC :-) But a very good idea indeed.

That's something that can be activated in the bios. I had the same problem with my new pc and now I am happily using my VM as always.
M.D.V. ;) If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about? Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you Rating helpful answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.

Nelek has the right idea, it's probably just a BIOS setting that tends to be turned off by default. It's not Hyper-threading, but v-[something]. Or it can go by many other names. But definitely not hyper-threading (although if you see the option in there and it's disabled, turn it on)

MS DOS and some ancient Word version are already opensourced, so... Although I'm pretty sure it's not some "Feel free to fork it"-license.
