Probably a coincidence. I was going by independent reviews. I previously used Norton and later McAfee, but have only used Windows Defender, without any problems, for a couple of years now. Not to say that msn.com doesn't have problems. I never use it myself.

How the freaking hell is someone a tool because of the actions of a company they sold more than thirty years ago? Exactly HOW?

Guilty by association, I guess. Like John McAfee, as you said, Peter Norton has sold his company decades ago and today's product is just garbage, and he has to forever live with the affiliation.

Long gone are the days of Norton being the darling in the hearts and minds of pc vendors offering it as the antivirus on new pcs having given way to (Bad) McAfee Livesafe and (Better) Windows defender. So like other companies swan songs Norton lashes out and does this. Which means they don't care anymore. I don't think they have for the last decade.

Ever heard of a pun? Innuendo? Do you say Norton Tools or Norton? Is he being taken "advantage of"? If you look hard enough, you can find misery in anything.

You got it; everyone else did; except one looking for it.

Ever since Peter Norton sold his software to Symantec it's gone downhill from a useful suite of tools to a bloated nightmare that consumes system resources for no apparent reason. At least now there's a reason. ;P
