I don't know what they are like where you live, but here in the USA, 90% or so of the cars are depressingly the same. The colors are either white, Black, or some shade of Gray. I include Silver as it is just a shiny shade of gray. The shape of the sedans is roughly the same. The shape of the SUVs and Crossovers is basically the same. The shape of the pickups is basically the same. The sports cars seem to be the notable exception, Corvette, Mustang, and Acura NSX. If it different in your location, please let me know.

I have one, and its Navigation is one of the best I have seen until now (and I have driven many pool / rented cars)

20 years ago, I was saying the same thing and it still holds true now. The progress is a very slow evolution with makers copying each other. More electric vehicles, but not so much in styles, but I am old and have many biases.

Well I drive a red one since a few days, partly indeed because it is too often black, white or grey otherwise. But what is equally annoying is that most manufacturers also bring out models that suspiciously lookalike. (as you also pointed out) And of course, there are many, many cars around these days ... taking it to another rant :-\ Cars have way too much electronics requiring your attention. My new car made the dashboard light up on every whatsapp message I got (I had to switch that off), you go slightly out of lane, you drive mildly over the speed limit, you come a bit to close to some pedestrian or other car and your dashboard lights up like a Christmas tree. You want to switch from radio to your phone music or vice versa --> you need to click 5,6 times before you can get there. I'm all for safety, but the tools themselves should do it without moving your attention from actually driving. On the other hand, I understand the car can't distinguish if you're driving or sleeping :laugh:

Skoda is now part of Volkswagen and consequently much better than they were.

Shape has converged, in part due to wind tunnel testing. To increase mileage, reducing drag is important. Color? Too many colors are meh, but black is black. Even car vendors can't mess that up!

In Norwegian, to be "blakk" is to have no money. I was curious to see if there is a relationship between (Norwegian) "blakk" and (English) "black". To my surprise, I learned that the original meaning of "black" is "void of", that be void of money, color or something else. Furthermore, the same root has also evolved into "blank". If your memory is blank, you are void of memories - hopefully only on a specific topic, not in general :-). In the 1800s, in some languages such as Danish and partly Norwegian (which was half-Danish at the time), "blank" was a term used to describe whites as distinguished from the blacks. So not only is it a contradiction to replace "black", void of color, with "colored". But also, in earlier times, the same term, etymologically speaking, denoted both white and black people.

Here in Chicago, it is the same, but many of the cars here are accessorized with bullet holes. :)
