My understanding is that flat-earthers (at the original level) simply state that you shouldn't believe what you haven't seen for yourself. I haven't seen Australia, yet I have seen no proof against it either. It appears that most "flat-earthers" today are not adhering to the original precepts of the founders. For example, have they ever seen an "Australian" being paid by NASA? I think not.

Maybe there are honest flatearthers, most likely in the US of A or in England (where the society was first established). The Norwegian chapter is a pronounced parody, very much like the pastafarians ("Church of the flying spaghetti monster"). They deliberately present the most ridiculous view, very much tongue-in-cheek, not at all trying to hide it. Has Wikipedia had a spring clean, throwing out flat earth stuff? I was convinced that last time I looked, the Flat Earth Society had its own Wikipedia page, not just a section in a page whose main purpose is to debunk it. I remember it having a link to Norwegian Wikipedia, where the Norwegian chapter was presented. That may be a couple of years ago. Now, I find only small traces; the Norwegian chapter isn't mentioned at all. For the Norwegian chapter, no debunking was required - it stood out as a perfect debunker themselves. If you were a true flat earth believer, you would feel very uncomfortable in the Norwegian chapter :-) And I am still waiting for the first mountain climbing group to take the name 'Steep Earth Society' :-)

Contrariwise, the OP says only "Flat Earthers" in general, not one particular sect, and I responded concerning they who can be traced back to the 1800s.

That is not what I see. Though it does seem that Rowbotham wasn't above throwing some of that in after the fact, it doesn't appear to be the origin of his concept. From what I can tell, Rowbotham should not have put much stock into biblical references, but it's not like he was terribly consistent overall. Others who followed him seem to have had a greater or lesser leaning in that direction. Bearing mind that Youtube and Wikipedia may not be the most accurate depictions of any particular subject.
