I had an FSL2 for almost 4 years. I graduated to: Dexcom G6 (sensor) Omnipod 5 (insulin pump) Everything is Bluetooth and controlled via app on cell phone.

Wow, I hope to avoid that step. My wife has me on a strict diet plan due to loss of gallblader at the same time. Food will be a bit bland for the next month or two...

The manual reader they gave me is bluetooth. The cost for the FSL2 is rich, so I will go back to manual once the 14 days are up.

they attach with sticky adhesive. Inserts a piece of filament into and under the skin. Painless, really. I rarely prick my finger now for testing.
A big button that makes a bit of a noise, but yeah, painless.

GCMs are pretty cool. I'd wear one if I could get a prescription for it. They also have continuous monitors for your ketones too. But, they're cool in the fact they really help you learn your body.

Now that is cool. I love the Dexcom G6. Best sensor on the market right now IMHO. Looking forward to picking up the next version. I also enabled private message replies on my account settings. I must have disabled this years ago. lol.

The user has to allow it from the settings. The widget you need is "Email" My messages have it, his don't. (offtopic: I sent you one on the other thread after you said that for the name, but I got an automatic message that your email server rejected it)

That's awesome to hear. Ain't gonna lie, I totally want one too, but I can't get a prescription for it since I'm not diabetic. It's totally cool to see blood sugar in real time though, to learn your body with.

I've had a GCM sensor for about 6 years now. I think it has extendend life and my quality of life. Knowing what my approximate glucose reading is at the moment is useful, but seeing where it is trending has been invaluable in preventing highs and lows. Sucks that USA insurance companies are resistent to approve them.

They are good, just expensive @ AU $110/fortnight.

Agreed. It would be useful if the price would drop further as they are adopted as standard.

Based on my experience being married to a long-time diabetic, you don't want your health insurance to be aware that your are using a glucose monitor unless you are actually a diabetic. That sets all sorts of flags related to benefits and pharmacological eligibility. It's why I spend a fair amount of my free time "Cranking The Machine™", the process of talking to my insurance provider about why they should pay for procedures or medications that they think are inadvisable based on my wife's medical history. Her doctors know better than the data entry monkey (or AI now) who says no.

I'm not sure what I can get away with saying on CP, but I'll just say I'm not a fan of our medical industry... both providers and insurance. It's more like a mafia than an industry that cares about people's health.

100%... to be fair it's both the hospital and insurance companies that are to blame for this mess. There be a ton of doctors who don't do jack for their patients. Always buyer beware it seems.
