In Los Angeles, Houses on postage-stamp-sized lots and with less than 2000 square feet (and that don't even have central air/heat) are selling for $700,000+. I moved from San Diego (where prices are comparable to those in L.A.) to Texas, and bought a 2200 sqft house on 3/4 acre for less than $109,000. ------- signature starts "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001 "You won't like me when I'm angry..." - Dr. Bruce Banner Please review the Legal Disclaimer in my bio. ------- signature ends

In the main city area for USD 109K you would prolly be able to buy about 1/5 acre of land (just the land, no house) Nish p.s. What's the sub unit for an acre? Here I have heard people use cents as in 1 acre = 100 cents. But it feels somehow incorrect

Certainly real estate prices can be pretty daunting to home buyers, especially all the first time buyers. I live in a quiet, quaint little town of Bowmanville, Ontario and it stuns me that houses in our neighbourhood sell in excess $225K CAD ($170K USD). Coincidentally, I just received my tax bill yesterday for a cottage property my wife and I own. The township values it at $150K for assesment purposes. Not a bad investment, considering we bought it for $22K in 1985. :-O Chris Meech "what makes CP different is the people and sense of community, things people will only discover if they join up and join in." Now, I'm definately not native english, but I know that "prolly" is wrong ;P Whats wrong with "probably" ? Or is "prolly" some slang I haven't seen anywhere but here at CP ? Anyway, it looks kind of ugly. Well, I've seen "prolly" on many places, and on chats, so it is not something that belongs to CP only. I dunno, but prolly I'm not gonna like tis word  Philip Patrick Web-site: www.stpworks.com "Two beer or not two beer?" Shakesbeer

Yeah, prices in Kentucky are pretty reasonable too. You pay a little more if you're in a city (e.g., Lexington), but you can still get a 1300-1400 square foot place on a decent sized lot for $100K or less. If you go out in the country, you can get that same house on like 20 acres for the same price. :omg: "When a man sits with a pretty girl for an hour, it seems like a minute.
