Yeah, I'll agree with you, although Roger claimed it had cooled down some when I was there about 3 weeks ago, I still don't believe him, it was too hot to have been cool X| . So did Roger try to throw you down a mine shaft too?:-D

Yeah, Its always interesting to see folk who have only seen bullets fly on TV or at the films, when they see what real ones actually do. Their is such a massive difference in a hollywood cops weapon and a real weapon. Regardz Colin J Davies

Roger, Have you thought about signing an endorsment contract for a CPU cooling system? I think even the copper ones I use would give up. We have only hit 108f this year and it is starting to cool off. :) "For as long as I can remember, I have had memories. Colin Mochrie."

I'm afraid my cooling system would be too costly for most of the market, liquid He being as expensive as it is these days.

You've never fired a .44 mag revolver before huh? It's so good you need to smoke afterwards. :-D Seriously though, handguns are fun. I used to have a .243 cal Browning rifle - great long distance shooter - that put out a flame about 6 feet long at night. Incredible sight. People who shoot for the first time are usually amazed at how very hard it is to actually hit something with a pistol. A rifle is easier, but it's still a tremendous challenge to hold an accurate pattern. My skills have certainly been diminished by going too long without serious practice; Lauren hit more targets than I did, even at relatively close range. Time for me to get out there and practice!

I have yet to try them out when it's dark, but I've seen pictures. My god! It looks like a friggin fire thrower! And then there's the very low pitch *boom* that you get with black powder firearms. You don't hear much, but you can feel it pound your body. Too bad it takes forever to lock and load.. But I guess that's part of the charm. :) > People who shoot for the first time are usually amazed at how very hard it is to actually hit something with a pistol. A rifle is easier The difference is like between day and night! I borrowed a .22lr semi automatic rifle (with a 50 round mag - quite the toy! :-D) from a guy at the local gun club. I shot at a plastic bottle at 50 meters (55 yards), and had it do the waltz for me. With a gun at that distance, I'm happy if I manage to hit the bottle! When I see people do 50 out of 50 points in the free pistol competitions (.22lr one shot guns) I'm an awe. > My skills have certainly been diminished by going too long without serious practice I haven't been shooting much this summer. :( Luckily there's a revolver duel competition and a magnum competition coming up soon, so I'll be spending less time behind the monitor real soon now. :) Oh btw, the duel is not an old school duel ;) You fire at a swinging/rotating target which is only visible for 2 (or was it 3?) seconds. > Lauren hit more targets than I did, even at relatively close range. Time for me to get out there and practice! Women are generally better shooters - at least in shorter competitions where you don't have to use the muscles for a longer period of time. From what I've seen they are much better at concentraging and aiming than men. So you better practice some extra! :) -- Serial killers don't kill their boyfriends.

What a hoot! But, as you mention, it's a pain to have to reload every shot, and a bit risky if there's any hot ash left in the barrel when you add the next charge.:omg: At .50 cal backed by 50 - 70 gr of black powder, it kicks like a mule! It's amazing that people here won a war of independence shooting weapons even more primitive.
