    My mother and I have been looking for a bridge in Assam at a place which sounds like "Dumuckdear" that a relation was engineer on - I don't suppose you could help with the spelling?

        It might well be - now I need to find out what was happening there in the 1910s-1950s when my family were over there

          Sounds interesting. The period you mention is pre-independance. Must be tough. But might not be totally impossible. Some one in your family worked for the English East India company? Smitha You are never given a wish without also being given the power to make it true. You may have to work for it, however. -- Richard Bach

                I'm not sure - this is my grand-uncle. All I know is my great-grandfather was comissioner of police in Calcutta (Kolkata) during WW2 and just before independence. My grandmother was talking about him, so my mother and I decided to look it up:)
