Sounds interesting. The period you mention is pre-independance. Must be tough. But might not be totally impossible. Some one in your family worked for the English East India company? I'm not sure - this is my grand-uncle. All I know is my great-grandfather was comissioner of police in Calcutta (Kolkata) during WW2 and just before independence. My grandmother was talking about him, so my mother and I decided to look it up:)
