I downloaded Adobe Reader 6 (Why the name change??) and I'm trying to install it. This alien exe calling itself Netopsystems FEAD Optimizer runs for about 3 minutes, then nothing. So I figure, ok...it must have finished whatever it was doing (recomposing apparently) so I can install Reader now. Nope, double clicking the exe makes the "optimizer" run AGAIN. What am I missing here? Has anybody installed this thing yet? What's the difference between a C++ programmer and God? God knows he's not a C++ programmer : anon

Not only that, but it takes forever to load itself when you open a PDF file. It sits there with a splash screen and messages go flying by about "loading this" and "loading that". A minute or so later your document pops up and hopefully you can still remember why you were opening it in the first place. QRZ? de WAØTTN

Yikes -- I thought I was only one who had trouble installing that blasted Reader. I got it installed eventually, but for the life of me I can't remember how... - Mike

I had a coworker complain about this as well. He said that alot of people were complaining about all sorts of problems with it, and that he eventually just uninstalled it manually and went back to version 5. ¡El diablo está en mis pantalones! ¡Mire, mire! It's still a piece of garbage, but unfortunately they're so much better at marketing than programming that it's impossible to avoid .pdf files anymore. You can remove most plugins from Reader 6 (or 5) startup. This makes the reader stzrts even faster than earlier versions. More info here[^].

"Beginning" to suck, I think, is an understatement. Slowly but surely, with every subsequent release of Acrobat Reader, Adobe has been shooting itself in the foot and I've found myself liking CHMs more and more. (SO WHY CAN I STILL NOT READ CHMs ON MY POCKETPC!?!) (PS - Yeah, I know I can decompile them, but throwing one CHM on a PPC is way quicker than 1000 HTMs and associated JPGs)...
