Cool picture[^] Another one[^] taken from the International Space Station. ------------------------------------------ The ousted but stubbornly non-dead leader reportedly released an audiotape this weekend, ending by calling on Iraqis to, quote, "resist the occupation in any way you can, from writing on walls, to boycotting, to demonstrating and taking up arms." adding, "you know, pretty much anything I used to kill you for." - The Daily Show

Here is another very cool picture of Isabel when she reached Category 5 for a very short time. If you are using IE make sure you view the image at its regular size. Isabel Notice how large Isabel is compared to the island of Puerto Rico. Ivor S. Sargoytchev

We don't get any exiting catastrophes up here in Toronto... :(( no earthquakes, tornados almost never happen, and even the hurricanes that you send up fizzle out to a squirrel fart before they reach us. For a while it looked possible that Isabelle could be a repeat of Hurricane Hazel, which killed 100 people in America before heading North to slaughter another 81 in Toronto, but alas. Now we're just forecasting a bit of rain... *sigh* The most exciting disaster I've been around for has been a blackout. (yet another problem sent up from the states... ;P) ;P Why is the phrase "It's none of my business" always followed by "BUT..." ;P

That should be cool! Years ago I got to drive a rental car around Nutley, NJ during a hurricane, looking for a place to take shelter. That was exciting! Just have someone lash you securely to a tree in the front yard with your camera - be sure to use the neckstrap of course - and stuff your pockets with extra film or memory sticks. We'll be looking forward to the pics!:-D "Some people are like Slinkies... not really good for anything,

:~ You need to come visit where I live, in Xenia, Ohio. Out of three tornadoes since 1974, we've had 36 deaths, over 2000 injuries, and approximately 60% of the town destroyed. There are certain advantages to having limited meteorological excitement where you live.

Amazing photos... I was well impressed a few days back when it was at maximum strength, and I think it was the Weather Channel showed a loop where you could see four smaller areas of circulation rotating around the edge of the eyewall itself (apparently these are called mesovortices?)... That and the weatherman saying, "This is a storm powerful enough to steer the environment around it, instead of being steered by the environment"... Carl

The Daily show is consistently the best damn thing worth watching on TV. I get seriously bummed when they take a week (or two) off.
