Anyone else consider the fact that another famous govenor of California - who subsequently went on to become "The most powerful man in the World" - was none other than Ronald Reagan..... And for the Americans among us - is it true / false that Arnie cannot go on to stand for president, since he's not a natural born American - causing quite some discussions around my office! In fact, seem to remember reading that he can't serve in Senate / Congress for the same reason, so why is he allowed to be Govenor? Corrections anyone? What I am trying to gauge here is if foriegn perception is important . After september 11th there seemed to be shock in the states that many countries and cultures where hostile . With that in mind , is it important that someone who is known internationally for his screen persona gets to run such an influential region ? Or does it just indicate that Americans are disengaged with politics , as seems to be the case in many western societies ? Pity about the bar on running for the top job.It would be hilarious if it where not so important , that someone with Arnies gravitas went on to run the states. Who knows in a few generations as AI software gets better then John Wayne could run for office . Why stop there , with AI and a new voice Lassie could run as well.

The rest of the world will have same views the US as before. It means a lot of drugs, porns...
I bet you are the only one who thinks that the rest of the world would have such a positive view of the US ;)

You lost.;) I know 2 men more who think the same. But they are only two men... :( On the other hand if we say that exceptions always exist, maybe you are right. ;)

I was going to say ...... I love a good sh!t but I would never vote for one. But then I remembered that most politicians are sh£ts , so perhaps that was not the best analogy.

A third rate actor , who was a drug taking body builder is elected to high political office. How do you think this affects how the rest of the world views the USA ? Do you care ? Is it any different to Italy electing porn stars ? Space reserved for wit , humour and correct spelling.

I'm not really aware of what happened in California, so what I say is more a feeling than a firm opinion: * it's sad that somebody without a real program can be elected just because of his impact on the media. * it's great that somebody who isn't a professional politician for years can be elected.

Well I guess I wasn't obvious enough, I was just making a measly attempt to humour by implying that associating drugs and porn with a country would make it rise in perception. Excuse me now while I go search for my not-funny-whip :(

It doesn't matter what it really is or what Americans know it as. You asked for foreign perception and you got it :) I have to agree with Corinna though, seems like a bit of a strange place :-D. I think Arnie being governor is quite cool though  I hope he does well.
