iTunes for Windows is out
-
I just downloaded it! Looks just like the mac version, except for the dialogs and menu bar. Well at least the UI is less annoying than the Quicktime player. While I like iTunes on the Mac, I really wish they had simply gone with a standard window UI. That said it is well laid out. I'd be curious to know what others think http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/[^] ¡El diablo está en mis pantalones! ¡Mire, mire! Sob. No ITunes for the UK yet ... hopefully Apple are working on it. However, can someone explain something to me. Why do I need special software? If I wanted to buy a couple of tracks, do they come in some proprietary iTunes file format or something? All I want is the ability to buy album tracks in a format of my choice - e.g. MP3 or WMA. I would also be willing to pay more for a higher quality bit rate. Is this possible with iTunes?

proprietary iTunes file format or something? Nope, they use AAC[^] Why do I need special software? I've never understood this either. Maybe to ensure the DRM rule are followed? Maybe if they opened it up to anyone then they would have now way to prove to the record companies that people weren't ripping them off (i.e. the old Napster). ¡El diablo está en mis pantalones! ¡Mire, mire! Well, it installed and imported my library without any problem. I like the UI, simple and friendly; some things will need to get used to ( Mac things ); fast enoug, sorting columns, and the search is nice. I ripped a CD to AAC and loaded it to my iPod (with the new software ), and it's playing fine. one thing that is cool, is that i can play songs from the iPod with iTune; and to have the "radio" with selected channels available ! Will continue experimenting with it in the next few days, but it looks like a keeper. one thing that is weird, is that I can't put the song number column before the song name column. as for the iTune Music Store, I don't mind right now, most of what I listen to is too underground and is not listed yet. That's it for now.

It's Apple, stop trying to rationalise their decisions :-D I have to say though that the shopping experience (san buying of course) is far, far better than anything you find in a browser. Beats the pants off Amazon and everyone else. It probably was a record-company/DRM stipulation though. regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass South Africa Miszou wrote: I have read the entire internet. on how boring his day was. You think it is going to be any good? The rumblings I have heard is that it is only Napster in name and all RIAA/record-companies in spirit. I hope not, would be nice to have it as a really good service. * Great sig regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass South Africa Miszou wrote: I have read the entire internet. on how boring his day was.
