Is ISRAEL the problem?

most of us english speaking people speak far worse Yeah - they use words like 'gotten' for instance. It always surprises me when someone for whom English is a second language apologises for their bad english (if they are apologising for Bad English, the band, then that's fully understandable). I just think: you speak english WAY better than I could ever hope to speak [insert random foreign language] cheers, Chris Maunder (CodeProject)
I can understand where they are coming from... If I ever submitted C++ code to CP I would be apologising profusely for my "bad C++" :-D regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass Cape Town, South Africa "We would accomplish many more things if we did not think of them as impossible." - Chretien Malesherbes

Hi, I can hear more and more pepole say that we(ISRAEL) are the problem..is that so? as a young man who fought in lebanon 3 years ago in order to save life of our citizens which was targeted on a daily basis by the islamic groups, not to mention the loss(correct word?) of many of my young friends i found this very hard to hear. http://www.cdn-friends-icej.ca/islam/vs\_israel.html for those who asked about osama bin laden: here is a site which contains news about global terror including a lot of information about osama bin laden http://www.debka.com Note:The site is run by an israeli reporter,i am not working for this site, rather i am a selective reader...:suss: sorry for the english...
At the risk of raising a few hackles , I think that the way in which the UN set up Isreal is to blame. To not have had the foresight to realise that the way that was set up would cause resentment was very niave. If the problems we are seeing today were addressed when Isreal was created , then I think there would be a lot less tension in the area. But here ? now ? I don't have the answer . How about depopulating the areas around the holy sites and letting all people come and go freely under the control of a mulitireligion UN force , but not letting anyone reside within , say, 1km ? But Isreals right to existence should not be under any doubt .

I am no friend of Israel. I think the dumbest thing the world community ever did was to create a Jewish state in the Middle east. However, I also realise that if the Islamic community wished to resolve the "problem" of Israel they could do so easily and peacefully by simply following the lessons of Martin Luther King, Ghandi, Mohammed himself or others. The sad truth is that the leadership of the Islamic world needs Israel to keep their minions in a constant state of agitation and anger so that they can more easily persuade gullible young men to act as cheap weapon systems. No No don't say world community - the enslaved Africans, Asians had nothing to do with it. Half the problems in the world can be traced to one nation - Britain. But the point is , we can no longer change the past. We should accept & move forward.

the enslaved Africans WTF? Why even bring that into this conversation? And if you consider that lovely Africa is probably the most war ravaged continent, by its OWN people, on Earth then they have no right to moan about the rest of the world. Half the problems in the world can be traced to one nation - Britain Should we then also blame the ancestors of all the worlds people (Africans) for all our troubles? But the point is , we can no longer change the past. We should accept & move forward Unfortunatley the very problem between Israel and Palestine IS the past. Your point is good and if everyone thought properly before acting they would abide by it. regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass Cape Town, South Africa "We would accomplish many more things if we did not think of them as impossible." - Chretien Malesherbes

Half the problems in the world can be traced to one nation - Britain. And for another $200 can you tell me the real reason this is true? (insert game show music here) No answer? Ah, too bad. That answer is, "it comes with the territory". The truth is practically all problems can be traced to the superpowers of the earth. France, Germany, Russian, England, Spain, USA, Japan, China, etc. It doesn't prove anything. Tim Smith Descartes Systems Sciences, Inc.

IMHO: Israel (as such) is not the problem. Palastinians/Muslims (as such) are not the problem. The problem is that both the Israeli people and the Islamic people both have a religious/historical perception that they must occupy the same exact pieces of land as the other. Coupled with the fact that many of them feel that the other being there is blasphemous. This my friends is a recipe for disaster. - begin humor alert - My suggestion would be to move Isreal out of the middle east permanently. Maybe give them a piece of land that nobody really cares about... like Indiana or Wisconsin. - end humor alert - Mike Mullikin "Real programmers don't document their code. It was hard to write - it should be hard to read!"

It may have something to do with the fact that the area is holy land to Israeli's :) It a big, big world ... Yes, but what part of it is not occupied already. Or what part IS occupied in which its people would be willing to move out, for other people? regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass Cape Town, South Africa "We would accomplish many more things if we did not think of them as impossible." - Chretien Malesherbes

It may have something to do with the fact that the area is holy land to Israeli's The choice of the Holy Land, was not simply to provide a safe haven for Jews fleeing the Nazi Holocast, it was more calculated than that. It was to retake the Holy Land for the Jewish peoples. Regards Ray "Je Suis Mort De Rire"

Ack nooo! Now I must start running again, pack my bags and leave these verdant hills of splendour *sob* I shall miss you CP.... Yes it is true, though I have never concealed the truth, I am no C++ whizz. In fact I did a hello world programme in C++ once and then went right back to VB (yes I am an heretic VB programmer). Then again apart from dabbling in .NET and lots of ASP/HTML/JavaScript/VBScript I do not do much programming at all. I analyse, plan, project manage and quality check (yes I am also a detestable manager type). So can I still keep my CP membership? :-D regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass Cape Town, South Africa "We would accomplish many more things if we did not think of them as impossible." - Chretien Malesherbes "Give me something better than Windows and I will use it, till then leave me be. Y'know, if I hadn't just spent 2 years of my life becoming the worlds worst ASP/HTML/JavaScript/VBScript developer I'd be hauling your sorry self out the door. ;P You going to ditch ASP and go ASP.NET? cheers, Chris Maunder (CodeProject)

The worlds worst ASP developer??? HA! As someone who writes in C++, Visual Basic, and ASP and its associated technologies, I can tell you that I've seen some pretty nasty looking code in all of these areas. The CodeProject site is extremely well put together, so I don't think you have to worry too much about your ASP coding. :) Jamie Nordmeyer Portland, Oregon, USA

However, where else could they have gone and where else can they go in this day and age? Thats a very good question. They where hell bent of creating a Jewish Nation. I can understand why, they wanted a place where all Jews would feel safe etc, and to give the Jewish Faith a centre, it had never before. It would have to proximity to Europe. So European Jews could access it easily, and so the new state could benefit for European Trade and defence. The native local population would have to be a push over (not able to argue with being kicked off their land). It doesn't leave alot of options ... What does "Je Suis Mort De Rire" mean btw? I assume it is French and has something to do with Death (Mort?) "I have died with laughter" ... its tough to translate it proparily, it french macarbe humour. Regards Ray "Je Suis Mort De Rire"

It was to retake the Holy Land for the Jewish peoples. Regards -------------- Linking the Holocast to Israel is too simplistic. Britain promised Israel to the Jews already during WWI, very long time before the Holocast. Interesting fact that Britain suggested Uganda in Africa for the Jews. The Jews refused, after all, it would require rewriting dozens of daily prayers written for Israel and Jerusalem :) Anyway Britain withdraw the proposal after short time. Sure, Britain agreed to Jewish requests for Israel not because they loved the Jews. It was more the strategic position of Israel geographicly, and the fact Britain didn't trust Arabs to fulfill its interests in the region. But there is no reason to blame Israel for choices it didn't take.
