Consider yourself a paying McAfee customer. Also consider yourself having a technical question about a McAfee product. So, you go to mcafee.com, seek the support pages, scan the FAQs, and finally find the "talk to a live technician" option. YES! Well.... Three options: Telephone Pay-per-Minute ($2.95/min, average duration 14 min), Pay-per-incident ($39), of chat to a technical live on the Internet (free!). For a good laugh, I encourage you trying out the latter. I am pretty sure what chats on the mcafee side is a basic implementation of good old Eliza. I never came across a less helpful support line in my entire life. Still fuming.... Bernd

That area of the site is hard to find! If anyone else wants to try, the link is http://ts.mcafeehelp.com/chat.asp?loadChat=True Why have a queue at all? Is the processing for this sort of thing that expensive? As I remember, the original implementation of Eliza isn't that large. Or is the queue to give it that last bit of realism? It is kind of funny how it says, "The next Agent will be with you shortly." Jeff Varszegi

JINX! The moment I wrote my earlier message about them using spam tactics. Guess what dropped into my mailbox? GAAAAAAAAAH! This time the spam is about their personal firewall. When they're really funny, they spam me with information about their anti-spam software. -- The moment of terror is the beginning of life.

But it would make more sense than usual spam. You can get spam even for products you already have. Why should you buy them a second time? You'll rather regret having bought it, because the seller has just become a spammer, so the seller loses a customer by "advertising". Spam for anti-spam-tools makes more sense, because this can't happen.
