I am working on a project that will incorporate some type of Instant Messaging. I was wondering if anyone knew of a .NET component that handles the basics of sending and recieving messages. If I remember correctly, Microsoft released something like this in beta form 3 or 4 months ago however I couldn't find any information relating to it on their website. The solution will need to work independently of MS Exchange server which may have been one of the requirements of the MS solution. Thanks, Scott

The directx 9 sdk contains some samples that show how to build a simple im client/server. I think that it is in the directplay namespace. andy
