In my MSDN subscription I have recieved Windows 'Whilster' Server and Advanced Server beta 2. I haven't dared to put the disc in my drive, since I never have and probably never will test an MS OS beta. ;P I guess these are the new upgrades for the Win2k server family. If anyone knows any more, pray tell! Cheers, Paul

Instead, I'm testing a beta Microsoft OS every day, it's called "Windows 2000 Professional Edition" with Service Pack 2. It's good, pretty stable, but you know, you never can trust in beta software... :) Furor fit laesa saepius patientia

LOL! :-D If you're beta testing then I definitely am - it's called Windows XP. MS say it's the final build - but I simply don't believe them. It's like Windows ME all over again (with a pretty UI - once you get used to it). Cheers, Paul

I used XP Beta 2 on one of my home PCs. I was getting along pretty well when I decided to install PC Anywhere 9 on it (Terminal Services are just too slow). So anyway, the little warning came up and said that "This software is not compatible with WindowsXP, please contact the vendor for an updated version..." blah, blah, blah. I thought "Ah, screw it... they're just being overly cautious." and proceeded with the installation. That installation of XP never booted again (that machine now runs RH Linux 7.1. ;-) It may be useless, but it's kind of fun). The moral of the story: When XP says that software isn't compatible... believe it. -Mike God Bless America, God Bless the World News - Forum - Games - Comedy - Chat Click: http://www.USAvsAfghanistan.com

PC Anywhere is pretty buggy when it comes to 2000/XP anyways. I would say tho 2000 Pro upgrade to XP Pro 2000 Svr upgrade to XP Pro XP Home is almost useless IMHO. XP Home can't even log onto a domain.

XP is an upgrade for the Client OSs only. 95/98/ME --> XP Home NT/2000 Pro --> XP Professional The new server OSs are not complete and are not being released at this time.
