I love both of those songs, but my favourite at the moment is Pantera - Cemetary Gates. In fact, I'm gonna listen to Hallowed Be Thy Name right now, and when I get home, I'm gonna plug in my warlock guitar, and play it in your honour. It's been too long since I played some Iron Maiden. I think, that if you ever heard Zoon by The Nefilim, you'd quickly realize that it's probably the best metal songs ever produced. It's not a clean metal song per se, it's got a gothic undertone to it. I'm not 100% convinced that Zoon is better than all songs made by Iron Maiden, but I'm convinced that it's 10 times better than Hetfield's wettest dreams. :) -- Gott weiß ich will kein Engel sein.

Metal is a music genre, thus a class of songs. ;P Best is the superlative form of good. There are numerous songs in the metal genre; there are bad (negative form of good), good and better (comparative form of good) such songs. "Best" requires perfection IMO. A crappy voice doesn't cut it. I'm not saying the music is bad, but it won't get past the comparative form of good. :) -- Gott weiß ich will kein Engel sein.

You can't tell me that metal gets any better than the live version of Overkill on "25 and alive - Boneshaker".
