I have to agree that Master Of Puppets is probably the best metal song of all-time.

Whaaaaat? :wtf: Back then James couldn't even sing properly. Not until Load, did he finally learn to sing. But then again, he appears to have lost the ability again with St. Anger. -- Gott weiß ich will kein Engel sein.

For you metalheads, I pose this question. What is your all-time favorite metal tune? It's a tie between Metallica's Master of Puppets, and Maiden's Hallowed Be Thy Name for me. BW CP Member Homepages

I think, that if you ever heard Zoon by The Nefilim, you'd quickly realize that it's probably the best metal songs ever produced. It's not a clean metal song per se, it's got a gothic undertone to it. I'm not 100% convinced that Zoon is better than all songs made by Iron Maiden, but I'm convinced that it's 10 times better than Hetfield's wettest dreams. :) -- Gott weiß ich will kein Engel sein.

Lemmy can't sing, but he still rocks. So long as it suits the music, who cares about the vocal range ? Christian I have drunk the cool-aid and found it wan and bitter. - Chris Maunder

Metal is a music genre, thus a class of songs. ;P Best is the superlative form of good. There are numerous songs in the metal genre; there are bad (negative form of good), good and better (comparative form of good) such songs. Objectively speaking there is no best song, so you might be onto something there. ;P Jörgen "Defender of the Steel" Sigvardsson :-D -- Gott weiß ich will kein Engel sein.

"Best" requires perfection IMO. A crappy voice doesn't cut it. I'm not saying the music is bad, but it won't get past the comparative form of good. :) -- Gott weiß ich will kein Engel sein.

I think most of metall singers like this , if they sing alone you will become X| but when guitar and drums add to their sounds it would be exciting. Of course I exclude James, I mean metallica. Mazy "Improvisation is the touchstone of wit." - Molière

You can't tell me that metal gets any better than the live version of Overkill on "25 and alive - Boneshaker". Fair comment. It all comes down to taste. I personally prefer Judas Priest to Iron Maiden, because they have a marginally better singer, and because their guitarists can actually play good solos. The average Iron Maiden solo I can learn in about an hour, a Priest solo takes more like a week. Christian I have drunk the cool-aid and found it wan and bitter. - Chris Maunder

Please note that the song is actually divided into two tracks on the album: * Zoon (Parts 1 & 2 - Saturation) and * Zoon (Part 3 - Wake World) If you find a song named only Zoon, it's most likely a very bad recording from Saturnalia live album. Although the live version is a very good song, it doesn't do the album version justice as the "sound image" (can I say that? :~ ) is very rich and much is lost live. Also, pay attention to the lyrics. This ain't no picnic/happy camper-lyrics. :) -- Gott weiß ich will kein Engel sein.

Is it true that if you play that sort of music in the henhouse, they lay hard boiled eggs? Heard in Bullhead City - "You haven't lost your girl -
you've just lost your turn..." [sigh] So true...
