Women priests?

Ahhhh...I tried googling for the difference between priest and nuns, and all I got were joke sites. :rolleyes:

Simple - a nun does not preach, or hold communion, or in any other way involve herself visibly in the administration of a church. Christian I have drunk the cool-aid and found it wan and bitter. - Chris Maunder

Still unsuccessfully googling. Found this[^] though. So...as far as I know it, nuns don't really have any redefined duties, only vows?

It could be said that all who submit to Christ are priests: 1 Peter 2:4-6[^] Rev 1:5-7[^] But Jesus is the High Priest. It's like the term "saints", all christians are saints, yet the Catholic Church has made it into a special designation. I have a problem with ministers being called Reverend or Father. Those terms are reserved for God only.

Hi all, The front page of BBC shows a pic of a woman priest. We don't have women priests in the churches in our city [I am not a Christian but I have gone to churches]. I went 8 years to a Roman Catholic School and the Sisterhood at the time was the Sisters of Mercy[^] "In what kinds of ministries or jobs might you find Sisters of Mercy? Sisters of Mercy serve in a broad range of ministries: Sisters are doctors, nurses, healthcare technicians, chaplains, clinical and pastoral ministers, lawyers, paralegals, lobbyists, legal advocates, teachers, professors, librarians, counselors, case managers, social workers, and secretaries. Sisters serve as CEO's, CFO's, COO's; directors, coordinators, supervisors, administrators. Many sisters completed their education before entering the community and continue to pursue careers in the disciplines in which they were educated. Other sisters have changed ministries several times in the course of their religious lives." FAQ[^] In the Roman Catholic faith, tradition, including traditional roles are hard to break unless it is necessary to benefit the community as a whole, imo. I have never seen a female Catholic Priest before here in the states, not that I wouldn't be opposed to the idea nor really a proponent. I don't hold the Catholic belief that Mary is the "Mother of God". Yeah she gave birth to Jesus because she was a special woman, but I think Catholics put too much emphasis on her. I assume that's where they get the "Mother" term for nuns. In apostolic teaching (from the Bible and Jesus' apostles) there really is no precedent for any form of church hierarchy such as a priesthood or papalcy. Apostles were the closest things to a priesthood, but they considered themselves elders and witnesses to Jesus' life on Earth. Elders (overseers) and Deacons were appointed in each church to help govern the body, but they were not considered more holy than their fellows, just more learned and experienced.

A woman minister/pastor/whatever (not a priest) officiated our wedding. I don't think it's a rarity in California.
