I think basically we have a country that is run by elites. The privaledged few who can run for high office are either rich or extremely well connected. In many cases they are not really good at anything other than looking good for the camera and saying the lines written for them by speachwriters. I think there should be a more concerted effort to allow anyone to gain high office. Thank you. I am JWood and I approved this message.

Alvaro Mendez wrote: "George W. Bush and I approve of this message." I think you'll find they are required to do that now as part of the campaign finance reforms. They can no longer stick in a "paid for by rich guys for Bush" and then have the candidate pretend that the vicious mud slinging in the ad wasn't anything to do with them. I think it's a good idea overall, while it doesn't seem to have stopped the negative ads, it stops the candidates acting like their not behind it.

Alvaro - I think you may be correct - but I thought it up on my own - and I am patenting so all presidential candidates that imitate me will have to pay me 0.05 cents

It just sounded odd that the GWB himself would say, "GWB and I approve...". It would have sounded better to have said, "I, GWB, approve...". Regards, Alvaro

Another question is why is federal funding for election campaigns alway turned down by the eventual winner? I think it says that the odds are stacked against anyone that uses it. A presidential canditate lottery might actually not be such a bad idea - provided the person passes certain compentency tests. If you look through history many of the best leaders were ones that were "accidentally" thrust into power. The power grubbing types that do make it into power are the problem.

It's always interesting when the media reports on the value of the presidential candidates wealth. I seem to remember a couple of the front runner democrats having houses valued at several million dollars+. (No, I'm not saying that the republicans are any different.)

Kerry has around 600 million listed - partly because they included the assets of his very rich wife (Heinz Ketchup fortune). If he wins you will see Heinz ketchup in every government cafeteria and eatery. And why are you posting as anonymous - are YOU an member of those elitist b*****ds? ;P

It just sounded odd that the GWB himself would say, "GWB and I approve...". It would have sounded better to have said, "I, GWB, approve...". Regards, Alvaro

Bush and I approve this message" or something very similar. I think the Kerry ads say the same thing but Kerry hasn't put any on in my next of the woods yet.
