They can no longer stick in a "paid for by rich guys for Bush" and then have the candidate pretend that the vicious mud slinging in the ad wasn't anything to do with them. I think it's a good idea overall, while it doesn't seem to have stopped the negative ads, it stops the candidates acting like their not behind it.

I think basically we have a country that is run by elites. The privaledged few who can run for high office are either rich or extremely well connected. In many cases they are not really good at anything other than looking good for the camera and saying the lines written for them by speachwriters. Another question is why is federal funding for election campaigns alway turned down by the eventual winner? I think it says that the odds are stacked against anyone that uses it. A presidential canditate lottery might actually not be such a bad idea - provided the person passes certain compentency tests. If you look through history many of the best leaders were ones that were "accidentally" thrust into power. The power grubbing types that do make it into power are the problem.
