U.S. to Ratify Cybercrime Treaty
-
The U.S. has already signed the treaty that promises cooperation with international governments dealing with possible criminals here in the U.S. - even if they haven't violated U.S. laws. Now all they have to do is ratify it. So, because of other countries' laws, you may be forced to give government organizations your private key (think, NSA, which already has ADK's for most asymmetrical algorithms besides OpenPGP - who knows about the commercial implementation these days) as well as plain-text versions of any encrypted messages. More is at stake as well. Most likely too late to contact your congress people - like it'd matter anyway with everyone so scared of a few incidents of terrorism that happen to other countries practically ever day. Just another excuse to oppress, but that discussion is for the soapbox. See the article here: http://www.securityfocus.com/news/8529[^].
