Hey CPians... could use a couple good suggestings on choosing a web host. I tried doing a search for 'web hosting' and quickly came to realize I need do somthing other than sift through the mire of results - I don't think I'll live long enough. I actually started sifting through the 109 million results (on yahoo) and got a little sea-sick. I was using yahoo web-hosting but they are rather restrictive - I'm referring to the PHP scripting, email forward, etc; not the content as I'm looking to host anything risque. Any one got a referral to a reliable host that offers: PHP support MySQL ftp at least 100MB disk at least 20GB transfer for less that $15US/month free transfer (of my domain name) no setup fees (or any other 'hidden' charges) I would also like to be able to use domain aliases (ie. alias.mysite.com) but it is not essential. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. --------------------------------------------- Help... I'm embedded and I can't get out! It's amazine how simeple life can be when one get's his head out of his ass...embly If they don't get the basic research and learning skills down then they'll end up having a very hard life (Either that or they'll become managers) - Micheal P Butler

I would normally recommend United Hosting[^] except that they've recently done a mass upgrade of their servers and botched some of them - awasu.com is *still* having problems. They were really good before; maybe they will be again when things settle down. They've got pretty much everything you were asking for, albeit for a little more money, but I think it's worth shelling out a few extra bucks for good support. This[^] is the place to go to find out about hosting. HTH

Mel, I've been using Web66.com for years for about a dozen domains and am *very* happy with them. For $10 you'll get everything you mentioned except that the transfer quota is limited to 5G. But you can buy extra at $2/GB on an as-needed basis. And domain parking is free. /ravi My new year's resolution: 2048 x 1536 Home | Articles | Freeware | Music ravib@ravib.com

Well, I'm not sure of the domain transfer, but ReadyHosting[^] has all that you're looking for. The basic setup has 500MB space, unlimited transfer rate (as long as it doesn't hose up their servers), PHP extensions support, I think SQL support for $25 extra. The initial fee is $150, 100 for the server, and 50 for the initial setup fee. $100 a year for the account. + 25 for the SQL support (yearly or not, I don't know), comes to $175. $175/12 mos. = $14.59/mo. Or rather, only about $100/12 mos. = $8.34/mo. Or, worst case scenario, $125/12 mos. = $10.42/mo. Well, I think my calculations are all right. But I would suggest checking out their site and finding out for yourself as well. It seems like they're what you're looking. I'm just trying to give you an idea of what they offer and I believe you're looking for.

We don't advertise web hosting. We are primarily networking consultants and web developers and sometimes we are able to steer our clients into hosting with us. The server was upgraded for when we begin advertising our hosting services. bj-consulting.com is the homepage (It is my Mother's business and I do the development stuff from Washington DC on a referral/consultant basis). To get an idea of the speed of the server, the following are some of the domains hosted there: alfazed.com[^] rvnetworking.com[^] happytravelerrv.com[^]

LunarPages.com. 40 GB of bandwidth per month. 800 MB of storage. All of the feature you require plus more. $7.95 a month. Their tech support has always been top notch. They have a TOLL-FREE tech line in which someone always answers, or they always seems to answer emails within a few hours. Good signs. If you search through alt.www.webmaster, they are constantly cited as a good source for hosting. Jim QTExtender - The OFFICIAL addon for QuoteTracker.
