Wow. However, I'm curious what *other* election results are. I'm not sure I totally buy into the "Democrats are smarter" conclusion. Marc Microsoft MVP, Visual C# MyXaml MyXaml Blog

There's nothing quite like selective statistics, it tells nothing at all about the election but yet you can start a 40 messages debate and feed an ego of a democrat with it. :-D Tomaž

The statistics in question appear quite braod - what is the average IQ of the state? Who did that state vote for?

Does this take into account the IQ of actual voters? I would assume that the higher the IQ, the more likely you would be to vote. I have no evidence, but it would be interesting to see if the "dumber" states had a lower average voter turnout than the "smarter" states. This poll[^] shows Bush with a slight edge over Gore in getting the educated vote. Gore got a large majority of the high school drop outs.

Keep it cool. Selective statistics means that one selects non-related results, obtained from different target groups using different methodology and without any proof propagates the idea of correlation. You need data to support the claim that group of voters is equally representative as group of IQ testers. Tomaz

If IQ research was serious then a representative group of people was tested having approximately same attributes as the general population of that state (age, education, sex, etc.) On the other side you can't plan which voters will decide to stay at home. So only those that actually showed up became part of the second group. Now if you could say (out of clear air and without proof!) that they were as representative as the IQ testers then I could with equal credibility say that they were a group of stupid people thus concluding that more stupid people voted for Gore. Right? Tomaz

Also there are keyboard combinations that give me fits when moving from keyboard to keyboard. I will resign soan.
