I also started on floppies but my first hard drive was a whopping 20 megabytes! The whole street was envious of the endless space I had. And we did not have CDs in those days to back up onto. On no, we backed up onto floppies. 20 stiffies for Doom if I remember correctly. Mine had 1Kb of memory and could be plugged into a cassette tape drive :) Am I showing my age? ;)

Although many here have already one-upped me.. my first machine had one 5-1/4 floppy and a 30-meg harddrive. MS-DOS 3.3, CGA video card (could get a whopping 320x200 graphics mode with 4 colors!) Anyone remember the anomaly known as 1.2 meg floppies? They were 5-1/4 size, but could store 1.2 meg instead of the standard 360K. Of course, when 1.44 meg 3-1/2's came out not much later (or maybe around the same time??) 5-1/4's started disappearing. "Fish and guests stink in three days." - Benjamin Franlkin

Holy smokes. My first PC had a 20 MB HDD, 2 MB RAM, 720 KB Floppy. Crap that was a looooooong time ago.

im quite positive the c-16 wasnt 1mhz , since the c64 was 0.98 mhz ;) and the c16 must have been introduced a bit earlier (or?) //Roger
Actually the C16 is newer than the C64 It was based on the plus/4 wich had 64 K like the C64 the C16 was the smaller brother of the plus/4 and had only 16 K. I had one also with tapedrive I dunno what the processor speed was, but if you did a circle in basic (Its basic was more advanced than the C64 that was the only thing that was more advanced) you could see it being drawn esp if you would let it fill the circle also (draw first then fill it) Rutger

I don't remember the size of my first harddisk, but I do remember all the tapes I had for my old ZX81, which was my first computer. Then later on a Commodore 64, for which I actually got a floppy drive) and even later, a PC ;) - Anders Money talks, but all mine ever says is "Goodbye!"
