Anyone know of a good (as in windows-style) text editor for UNIX (Solaris)? (The first one to mention vi shall invoke the wrath of :bob: ) ~Nitron.

I have to i find vi quite good now I've figured out how it works. Not good for anything large scale, but still good especially when you want to work through a remote terminal. Joel Holdsworth Wanna give me a job over the summer? View my online CV and Job Application[^]

VI isn't that bad, to enter the commands ESC-wq (write, quit) ESC-q! to exit without saving etc. NANO is easy to use in the command line, it shows everything. -Steven Hicks

LOL! :) Use vi! I finally just gave in and learned just enough to be able to edit config files with it. :) ¡El diablo está en mis pantalones! ¡Mire, mire! Real Mentats use only 100% pure, unfooled around with Sapho Juice(tm)! SELECT * FROM User WHERE Clue > 0 0 rows returned

emacs is a pain to install (as the default for various applications) and get used to. But you'll love it once you get used to it. "To his dog, every man is Napoleon"

I agree with you totally. I like using Windows since I actually like to get some work done instead of spending all my time fiddling with my PC searching for drivers ;p But if you are stuck using Linux and need an editor I think there are few sophisticated alternatives to emacs "To his dog, every man is Napoleon"

who in their right mind would ever think to type :pq rs A+ | grep -pLR u8 %s vQry i qr pxub y just to enter a tab! or... :z dQ rui | awk -yIb -1 instead of hitting [backspace]! And obviously when I hit [backspace], I really want to type [^h. May be logical for some, but not I. ~Nitron.
