How can ANYONE seriously claim that the IDE in VS.NET 2003 is "better" than the one in VC6? This thing is so full of bugs that it's almost impossible to get any meaningful work done. I've somehow managed to put the editor into a mode that insists on highlighting blocks of text and if I dare type something, EVERYTHING that was highlighted is deleted. Is wizard code still the stuff that you see between the BEGIN_MESSAGE_MAP and END_MESSAGE_MAP macros in a CPP file? If so, why the hell isn't that text being shown in the colors I selected? Why does the class wizard INSIST on adding two #include statements whenever I create a new class from a dialog resource? Why don't the guide settings in the resource editor STAY OFF between sessions? Why on fucking earth did Microsoft ASSUME that nobody would want the fucking IDE to use the same goddamn double-click actions as the previous version of the IDE? Microsoft has had THREE tries to get this right, and they still managed to fall flat on their feces - er - faces. How do you guys manage to get any fucking work done? ------- sig starts "I've heard some drivers saying, 'We're going too fast here...'. If you're not here to race, go the hell home - don't come here and grumble about going too fast. Why don't you tie a kerosene rag around your ankles so the ants won't climb up and eat your candy ass..." - Dale Earnhardt "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001

I think Daniel might be onto something. Maybe somehow the Shift Key feature or something like that got activated and this is what's causing the text selection. Try pressing it for about 10 seconds and see if it turns off. "To his dog, every man is Napoleon"

IDE = Insane dev env Solution: Whenever you need to edit resources use VC6. Next, use Anna's wonderful resource ID organiser to get things in shape. Switch over to VS.Net 2003 and let the wizards do their - ah - magic(?). Press the function key that will invoke the real magic of a macro to get rid of the stupid '#include ' etc and especialy the VERY useful comments. Compile with a fine compiler, link to a less buggy MFC and debug with a superb debugger... you're done! Smile returns to your face and you can see the weekend comming ;-) At least thats my solution.... dirk
