I wonder if drunk ants get barred from their nest like bees get barred from the hive. Each hive has little bee bouncers to stop any disruptive bees from getting into the hive, so if you cant fly straight you don't get in. If I had a better memory I would remember more.

The elephant one is true ! Because they are so large the lungs are attached to the inside of the chest rather than hang free (e.g. as in humans) and as a result can't take the strech an elephant would require to jump. As proof, someone came up with low level fences with sharpened wires (bit like a long porcupine) because the elehants couldn't step over them without gettign stabbed have proven very effective. I never said elephants could jump :-D. I just said that I think they aren't the only ones that couldn't jump. I'm pretty sure, having met a hippo and a rhino close up, that they couldn't jump either. I also think it would be tough for a giraffe to jump with its weak, inflexable legs. :)

I don't think you've met too many hippo's then... They are big and heavy. I mean real heavy. So are rhinos. Even when they run I don't think they take all four feet off the ground. I suppose giraffes do lift all their legs when running flat out but I don't think they can jump any hight at all....

For instance, sea sponges, worms, snails, are all animals. I don't think any of those can jump. ;) "Fish and guests stink in three days." - Benjamin Franlkin
