What about her family in PA? Won't they help bring her home? :(
Look at the world about you and trust to your own convictions. - Ansel Adams
Meg's World - Blog PhotographyI'd hope so, but I really don't know the circumstances. That would be ideal, but it's also possible that she's a problem child that no one wants back at home. I just don't know...:~ "My kid was Inmate of the Month at Adobe Mountain Juvenile Corrections Center" - Bumper Sticker in Bullhead City

Tonight started out slowly, then rapidly degenerated into something I can understand. I met a cute little girl tonight, chatted her up for a while. The guy she was with spent a fair bit of time scowling, but I assumed that this is his normal expression and ignored it. They left together, peacefully. A half hour later she was back - he and his mother refused to let her into the house where his Mom was babysitting her 2-month old baby girl. They also declared their intention to take the baby to Tucson, where the guy is believed to live. We call that kidnapping here in the US. Upon the advice of a number of us she called the cops. When they arrived at the house, they found the guy, his mom, 2 lbs of marijuana, and 2 lbs of methamphetamine. They both had outstanding arrest warrants, and the guy is a registered sex offender. What a lovely world. I don't know what the circumstances were that brought her here from her native Pennsylvania, but she's in a world of hurt. We took up a collection for her to pay for a hotel tonight, but what happens next? This "family" for some reason flew her out from PA to stay for a month, and she has no money to get home, or to survive here for a while. They're all in jail tonight and unlikely to pay for a return ticket for her, and I can't afford to support her and her little girl for any length of time. What would you do? Roger, the main thing is that people didn't turn away at the point where those "£$$^*^%^s would have got away with it  So well done those who advised her to call the police ! I wish I had a magic answer for the rest. Elaine :rose: The tigress is here :-D

I know down here, we have a women's shelter (at the Salvation Army) that would be ideal for situations like this. You mentioned a Safehouse - so I think you're right in giving her that number. Other than that, I'd check out churches, social services, etc., anything likely to give out food, clothing, lodging. "Fish and guests stink in three days." - Benjamin Franlkin

Sir, this would be one of the most wild coincidences known to man, but I am from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A female friend of mine recently ran off to Arizona with her boyfriend who is a very shady character. All of us have been trying to contact her for a few weeks now. We know she has no money and cannot get home. Are you still in contact with this girl? Is her first name Margaret (Margie)? I'm not playing games with you, I am quite serious. I don't see how this could possibly be the same girl, but still, I must ask.

I wish I could help, but her name isn't Margaret, or any derivative of it. I do hope you manage to find your friend, though. Ah ok. Well, I'm actually rather relieved. My friend may be in a tough situation, however at least now I can go back to not thinking her boyfriend is a sex offender in jail right now. I mean, I knew he was shady, but I didn't think he was that shady. It was too crazy of a coincidence to be true anyhow; I've just been reading too much Douglas Adams. All of that stuff about improbability drives messes with your sense of reality. ;P I suspect my friend will turn up eventually. She knows who she can call if things get out of hand. Thanks, Thespiff

thespiff wrote: All of that stuff about improbability drives messes with your sense of reality. No it doesn't. But reality can frequently mess up your appreciation of improbability, and how much it affects our lives!;) "My kid was Inmate of the Month at Adobe Mountain Juvenile Corrections Center" - Bumper Sticker in Bullhead City
