Hi to all designing CPians out there! I'm searching around for a good tool to make some (intranet) Web-sites with html and asp.NET for my next bigger project. Until now I have used FrontPage :| in combination with Visual Studio 2003 to do my asp.NET stuff, but the design capabilities of FP are really really ....... So here is the question: What do you use for your websites? Any good suggestion? Greetings and thanks from a strange planet, Olli!

I use FP2003 and notepad for the vast bulk of my HTML work... although I don't do a lot of new-site building. Usually altering existing sites and doing mock-ups. My web-designer uses ever app under the sun, depending on the kind of site she's having to do. Heck, I've even seen her use Visual Interdev  Michael CP Blog [^]

I would never do this myself for a client project but if you are happy with the code FP produces then this is probably an option. You can use Macromedia Fireworks. It is a great graphic designer app and has an Export To HTML option which exports your design, cutting it up logically and producing the HTML for you. We use Fireworks to design our websites (though we then hand-code the HTML and cut up the designs ourself). regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass South Africa Ian Darling wrote: "and our loonies usually end up doing things like Monty Python." Adobe Photoshop & Macromedia Fireworks (mostly the former) to layout and get the design work ready. Break it down to what will be user controls and then code the HTML usually with VS2003 (mostly in HTML mode :) ). My FrontPage lays pretty dormant these days. All my web work is with ASP.NET so I force myself to use VS2003 for that. Rocky <>< www.HintsAndTips.com www.MyQuickPoll.com www.GotTheAnswerToSpam.com

Adobe Photoshop to design the site then code the HTML in Macromedia Dreamweaver partly hand coding partly using dreamweavers design view. If I had a better memory I would remember more.

I tried FrontPage98 years ago and found it lacking so much that hand-coding HTML in Notepad was a better choice. When I got VS6 I switched to InterDev, and got fairly used to it, though in many respects it sucks. Since I recently acquired a copy of VB.Net 2003 I've been playing with it for website construction, and I have to reluctantly admit that it's the best tool I've found so far. Of course, since I haven't yet tried building anything mildly complex with it, it's too early to make a real judgement. But this[^] trivial site took about 40 minutes to build using VB.Net; it would have taken most of a day to build using InterDev.
