If water spins down the drain one way in the northern hemisphere and the other way in the southern hemisphere, does that mean if you stir your coffee the same way in each it will in fact stir faster?

i guess you have to add a draining system to your coffee mugg for that to be true? or? maybe some sort of 2 stage rocket like mug..

      +---+
      | | <- top stir part
      | |
      +- -+ <- small hole
      | |
      | | <-bottom part
      +---+

you pour the coffee in the top part and stir .. since that part has a hole in it , it will stir faster (or not at all if you go the wrong direction) when there is no coffee left in the top part , you remove it and drink the coffee //Roger

Nope, it's the Coriolis Effect. Ask Chris, he saw it with his own two eyes when he moved to Canada. Ian Darling The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity ... that such complexity can arise ... out of such simplicity ... is the most fabulous extraordinary idea ... once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened - it's just wonderful ... the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned - Douglas Adams
