Antivirus program

I have used Norton Antivirus since the old DOS versions where is stated "nor protection for 1.200 different vira" on the box, and I have never ever had a single problem with it. I have also used the enterprise versions, and they works just fine too. - Anders Money talks, but all mine ever says is "Goodbye!" ShotKeeper, my Photo Album / Organizer Application[^]
My Photos[^]Well, clue number one is there's no such word as "vira". And, I never had a problem with it until I got a virus one day (CIH). Instead of Norton getting rid of it, Norton trashed my system. Also, it's a resource hog. And, causes Office problems too. Jeremy Falcon

I am about to buy an antivirus program. Which should I use if I want it to: * Be non-intrusive (I choose what to scan, and when) * Don't hog resources unless I ask it to -- Denn du bist, was du isst! Und ihr wisst, was es ist! Es ist mein Teil...?
I use EZ Armor Security Suite from Computer Associates. Its been pretty good on my home XP professional machine with multiple logins. I could not get Mcafee to work with multiple logins.:mad::mad: Best of all, its FREE for a year:):) http://www.my-etrust.com/microsoft/index.cfm?[^] prashu

Well, we have been using McAfee 7.0 on our newer PCs here and I haven't had any problems which is shocking. It even removes Adware, malware, etc. but you have to manually set that feature. I normally don't recommend McAfee but it seems that 7.0 isn't a hog and actually updates very smooth except I do have to do a manual install of the 4.3.20 engine on a new install. The problem with McAfee is that they are spammers. I never signed up for their spam, but still I get spam from them. They will never have me as a customer. :) -- Denn du bist, was du isst! Und ihr wisst, was es ist! Es ist mein Teil...?

Agreed with Ian, I use AVG for a year (thanks to Daniel Turini who popularized AVG in the Lounge) and my PC hasn't been contaminated, yet :) And as Firewall I use the free version of Kerio, much less resource-consuming than ZoneAlarm (I had to shut ZA every two days, or it took 90% of the CPU :sigh: )
