With all the talk of Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, has anyone else read this generation's greatest fantasy author, Robert Jordan? His Wheel of Time books are an incredible story. Highly recommended. Josh Knox that-guy.net

Yes. My family and I are fans. But my opinion it's very long story and only true fantasy-lover can read it completely ;) My main fear (but and hope too) what the next book(10) will final book ;)

I've read them all so far an I agree that Jordan was a great writer up to about book five. Then things went downhilll and the books became mainly "filler". Book nine had some good stuff to the end (i.e. thank god for Rand finally *DOING* something) but it still lacked much content. Hopefully the series will pick up again before the end.

This is exactly why I have avoided this Wheel of Time series. I have heard from quite a few people that while the first half is really good the rest are just as you put it fillers. Why is this author writing them then? I have always felt strongly that if you are going to write a book, and even more so a series of books, you have to have some ultimate goal or something really strong to write about. You can't just pump them out to keep people "happy" with the volume of content. The author should have paused at number 5 and only written 6, 7, 8, 9 etc. when he came up with good plots and events to justify them. He probably has a contract though or some agreement which he is bound to. Pity that, ruins an authors reputation and following. regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass Cape Town, South Africa Do you Sonork? My big concern is that at his present pace Jordan will die before completing the series and I'll be left out in the cold... forever! Mike Mullikin - Sonork 100.10096 "Oh, you hate your job? Don't worry, they dont suck. Must be that some of the others here have a short attention span. I think it just keeps getting better. The story is just huge. Josh Knox that-guy.net

I have read TWOT series about 4 times cover to cover. Its only then that you appreciate the true depth and prepardness the author had to have at the start of the project just to get it where it is today whilst being so consistant. With people saying that 6-8 being fillers, this is not really the case. He has to mature the plots in some areas to able to progress in the others. You can't run until you can walk....(but maybe you can swim!). I re-read them when the next book comes out, to make sure I am fully aware of what is going on in the story, so I can appreciate it properly. Will Mat marry Tuon? I would have to say Mat is my favorite character. He reminds me of me....:-D Roger Allen Sonork 100.10016

I've read all except the most recent. There was such a long gap between when I read the previous one, and when this one was released that my interest kinda faded away. I'm sure I'll read it eventually. ~Cam Desautels (BinaryUprising.com)
