Visual Studio 2005

Just got a my crispy new install of Visual Studio 2005 Beta 1 running. Microsoft is seriously moving it's bottom. Very nice interface, and for the beta version, the interface is quite stable (expcept for little quirks here and there) Pretty damn nice in all I would say. I'll keep playing around with it to see what happens. For windows forms, very few new "toys" added to the tools menu, but oh well... VS2K5 is awesome. :)

I've been batting around the idea of putting this on a test machine, but haven't been able to justify it in my schedule yet. Aside from a slick interface, what are some of the things that you feel make it awesome? Language features? Tools? Controls? I did try the PDC release way back when and I hate to say it, but it was terrible. Appreciate your feedback! Custom Software, Custom Solutions. Yye Software. http://www.yyesoftware.com

Hi, I installed the web development version, I found it very slow to load. I produced a website (the template one with photo album), and installed it on my 2003 Web server. Had a few issues, one of which brought me to a webpage at MS telling me they had a fix but I'd need to pay for support to get the patch :-( Agree the interface was nice, I like the template for all pages, and the partial class approach. Not had much time to play with it yet though. Gary.

I haven't had a change to check out many of the new features. Some features that I have checked out are: Separetad the windows designer code from the rest of the forms/controls code. Easier to work with in my opinion. EDIT AND CONTINUE (for VB) is back in the bag of tricks. The exception handling system has been improved, the immediate view has been implementes inline with the code making it easier for debuging. the snippets library "seems" interesting, The in project development of databases is quite nice, although I still can't figure out where specific data providers went. And since i'm still playing around with it, i'll see if I find more things. PS: Installed it on my dev machine side by side with VS6/2000/2003 and Sql Server 2000 Developer No problems...
