Okay...let's sort this GMail thing out...

First off, Gmail invites were not banned from the Lounge. As Mike Mullikin states: _Chris Maunder wrote:
We're having a moratorium on GMail ending Monday morning. The post was dated Friday, August 28 thus the moratorium ended on Monday, August 30. Today is Thursday, September 2 thus the moratorium is over and while still annoying the "GMail Invite" posts are not still banned to the Soapbox. Kapeesh?!_ Chris suggested that he might make a separate Gmail forum just till the hype dies down, but I don't see one. It would be nice if we just moved all these to the Soapbox, but I think the regulars there (Losinger and all the other political activists that like to fight in there) would get a wee bit upset that their arguments were getting bumped by Gmail invite announcements. In other words, stop saying that Gmail invites were banned. They aren't. Anybody who says otherwise clearly does not understand what the word moratorium means...and should go look it up.

GMail is fun. It's nice of people to want to share. However, to minimize the amount of uninteresting reply posts clogging the forums, it would be courteous of those sharing to do one of the following:
- Mandate in your post that only those replying via the [Email] link will receive invites, or
- Direct replies to a thread in your bio forum, as Nick did a while back.
Needless to say, there will still be replies in the primary forums, as some people don't understand English well, and more people don't bother reading past the word "GMail". But at least it might make things manageable. GMail is all well and good, until you have to page to find non-Gmail posts. :)

I've had a GMail account for an entire week and the boys at Google haven't seen fit to give me a single invite yet. I'm chomping at the bit to flood the Lounge with GMail invites, but I'm stuck with no ammo. ;P ;P ;P Seriously though, anybody know how long it takes before Google ponies up a couple invites for a new user? I know what moratorium means...but if it ended monday morning, then that means that the onging activity that was suspended can now be resumed... Meaning Gmail is not banned...

I gave an invite to a friend just yesterday and he already has 6 invites to give away. Mine took a while... Go figure.

I've had mine for about a week and they have given me about 15 invites. Signature under construction.

How often do you use the account? I think that may have something to do with it. Signature under construction.

You might have a point. I have it set as my CodeProject e-mail address so it catches all the replies from my posts, but I haven't used it for very much outgoing mail. Hmmmmm..... I think I'l have to rectify the situation. "Reality is what refuses to go away when I stop believing in it." Philip K. Dick

Yeah, i've sent quite a few emails with it, that could possibly be why. Signature under construction.

I've been playing UT too much tonight I've been wondering, how does UT 2k4 on PC compare to Unreal Championship on Xbox? Is it about the same? Or are there things I'm missing out on?

I'm playing the original Unreal Tournament. I have played UT2k4, but I didn't like it as much as I do the original. I have not tried Unreal Championship on the Xbox, and I doubt I ever will. I just can't play FPS games using a game pad. -- ...Coca Cola, sometimes war...

What's funny is that there are more posts complaining about Gmail posts in the Lounge than there are legitimate Gmail posts offering invites.
In other words, if everyone would just ignore the invites unless you were legitimately interested, it wouldn't be that bad. Just my opinion, especially since I just now got my invite. -

And sharing is what this site is all about !! Regardz Colin J Davies Attention: Watch this signature for an upcoming announcement that will affect you.

They should be banned. Not only from the lounge, but from the internet in general.
