Visual C# 2005 Experiment
-
Yesterday I downloaded the install client for Visual C# 2005 Express Beta (http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/express/vcsharp/[^]) and began the install. The installation program then downloads the rest of the package. Well, after about 24 hours, it has managed 2.2 meg out of 279 meg (about 0.7%). Connection speed is not an issue as I have DSL. So I ordered the CD today and am leaving the download going. I want to see which one arrives first. Its been a while since I've seen something move this slowly. Its like my old 2400 baud modem :).

Duke Leto AtreidesI haven't tried that exact download (I got it on CD in MSDN Universal) but even here in S.A. with our horrid internet connectivity I get 40kbps sustained download speeds from MSDN and Microsoft sites. Did you try and restart it at some point? I sometimes have to do that, not sure why but it helps. I wait for a meg or so to be downloaded to let the connection stabilise. If it isn't as fast as it should be then I restart and that normally sorts it out. regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass South Africa Jörgen Sigvardsson wrote: "Gassho rei, Watson-san!" As a matter of fact I did. After about a half an hour it had only downloaded a handfull of kB. So I did the ole' restart. Still very slow. *shrug*

Time for MSDN Universal perhaps ? :) "One of the Georges," said Psmith, "I forget which, once said that a certain number of hours' sleep a day--I cannot recall for the moment how many--made a man something, which for the time being has slipped my memory."
For what I'm into now, its not yet worth the expense.

Duke Leto AtreidesI don't know, but it might be something on your end. Friday Night I DL-ed and installed the whole package(as you called it)in about 28 minutes. Best, Jerry
