The muntjac deer remained unnoticed by the driver who thought he had hit a stone and continued on his way. Sounds like a few London drivers I come across, who seem to be oblivious to anything around them!:mad: PS: slap on the hand for including a linker ([^]), that didn't open up in a separate window:(

That was the fear mentioned in the article as well and the reason I used an "or" between my two statements. That ones easy to answer - the passenger knows when it is wise to shut up and then does so for their own safety! The guy at the other end of the phone has no idea until he hears the sound of bending metal. There was a court case a while ago where the person on the other end of the phone was giving evidence that the driver was talking when the accident happened - they heard it. (The driver didn't give evidence, he was dead)
