I was at www.Wired.com today and I noticed that little icon with the 'x' that pops up when an image doen't load properly. Turns out that that image is http://127.0.0.1:1026/bug.cgi.:omg: First off is it a real bug? If so this is not something I would expect from a source as respected as Wired. So what's up guys, any explanation? BTW this little bug.cgi is up at the top of the website in a frame dedicated to Lycos. I don't know exactaly what it looks like because I couldn't get it to load, but it's probably "invisible".Does Lycos have its hand in Wired's pocket? -Mark

Probably temporary debug code. Otherwise, you want to ask what application opens a port on 1026? netstat will tell you that. Todd Smith

Well I try to keep up to date with the whole spyware thing but how would that effect what show up on wired's webpage? Have you been there? -Mark

netstat -ano will give you the process id for each port, then you can look it up in task manager (it works on XP, don't know about earlier versions).
