I ws gonna try to have fun here but Mike beat any effort that I could produce so I will just argue a few small points: MwaHaaHaa wrote: You should relearn your original national anthem, "God Save The Queen", God had better save the Queen because the British Army damn sure won't MwaHaaHaa wrote: All American cars are hereby banned. They are crap and it is for your own good. When we show you German cars, you will understand what we mean. "Know German Cars" ? I know how they look in the rear view mirror. The corvette is superior to any German production sports car. http://www.chevrolet.com/corvette/[^] The Viper is superior in acceleration to any German vehicle but doesn't handle as well as some of the German vehicles. There are some nice import vehicles in the SUV and 4WD catagories such as the Taureg etc... but as far as off road performance is concerned its kinda hard to beat a Jeep. American cars have come a long way, no longer the realm of waterbed suspension. Your sugestions are credible but IMO still not quite there in a holistic manner (except for the 4X4 mention. Thought I'd take a Landie over a Jeep. I can't remember if BMW still own Land Rover or not though.) Sports car wise, look no further than Porsche which might not outdrag a big block American but sure would beat it in most other departments. I tend to respect AutoCar for car reviews and they rate the Caddy well, still has a few years to prove itself though. Ford GT does seem awesome though we will have to see how the Audi supercar stacks up against it when it comes out. Of course, there is still the rest of Europe to contend with; Alfa Romeo, Lamborghini, Renault, Jaguar, Aston Martin and Peugeot. Admitedly many owned by American companies but the Europenas have influenced their parent companies IMO. And then we have Toyota! Watch out GM. They have already beaten Ford. Cars are great eh? I just need a bank balance to match :-D regards, Paul Watson South Africa Michael Dunn wrote: "except the sod who voted this a 1, NO SOUP FOR YOU" Crikey! ain't life grand?

Better than what comparable German car? I'd take a Porsche over a Corvette if forced to name a comparison German car. They are for different markets though. Different prices too. I don't think Germany produces a direct Corvette competitor; Maybe more the realm of far-east companies like Honda (S2000) or now Nissan (350Z). regards, Paul Watson South Africa Michael Dunn wrote: "except the sod who voted this a 1, NO SOUP FOR YOU" Crikey! ain't life grand?

Nope . It can't. I am a BIG race fan ( real racing not NASCAR) and it has been a real long time since Porsche has won anything except a race against another Porchse. The vette can out run and out handle the little roaches. You really need to test drive one of them. I would like to see a coke bottle top designed by some of the Porsche or BWM engineers. Check out the steering and the suspension against the Corvette - which handles better BTW. Also look at the braking systems of the high end Porsches. Sometimes there is a need to "over engineer" something - but not in the amount or degree that some do. In a full time racing vehicle perhaps - but in the Boxster ? The 9xx series of yuppie street machines. naa Richard "Under certain circumstances, profanity provides a relief denied even to prayer --Mark Twain (1835 - 1910)
