Domain Transfers (and Hijackings) to Become Easier. The gist of it is that if you don't respond to a domain transfer request within 5 days then it is automatically approved as opposed to denied as it used to be. Completely and utterly daft. 'jackers are going to just start spamming domain requests for all they are worth, betting on a percentage of owners not responding in time and so taking control of many domains. I'll have to take this up with my hosting company, and find out if they have the authority to give an automated NO if *they* don't hear from me. I have a couple of domains registered through 123-reg and they have Domain locking management in their control panel. This is what they say. Domain locking allows you to lock a domain against transfers and nameserver changes. This prevents accidental changes to the important details of your domain name, as it will need to be unlocked (an easy process) before modifications will be accepted. This is a registry lock, not a 123-reg lock. This means it won't prevent transfers to another 123-reg user, only to another registrar, e.g Network Solutions. I think I will go lock my domains now. Just tried this and it is available on my .net but not .org.uk

AFAIK DeNIC (registry for the .de TLD) has handled transfer requests like that for years. The providers answer "NO" automatically, if they don't know about a planned transfer. The Admin-C doesn't have to do anything. If you're managing your domains yourself, configure an auto-responder :) _________________________________ nur Idioten brauchen einen Führer

Finally i might be able to get my domains transferred away from Joker :) Windows NT crashed. I am the Blue Screen of Death. No one hears your screams.

I asked my domain host, REgisterFly, and here is their response: We have locked your doamin to prohibit unauthorized transfer. We will unlock the domain only if the owner will confirm the user name and password so please dont worry about hijacking of your domain. does microsoft have a long Christmas holiday? ;) I will double check with my domain provider that they know I want to keep it.
