At work I have a 19" running 1280 x 1024, but most of the time I am using my laptop w/ 1600x1400, which is quite cool  Unfortunately, at home I have a 17" only :(( Regards Thomas Finally with Sonork id: 100.10453 Thömmi

We use the Matrox dual monitor system. So I run at a resolution of 2560 by 1024. The first monitor is 21" while the second is a 17". The setup is very good for debugging apps as VC and the app in question can be setup to not overlap which is very useful. Sorry to make you feel bad about it. Hope you get a better monitor size soon Nish, although if they have just given you a shiny new 15" you may be out of luck for a while. Roger Allen Sonork 100.10016

All my staff now have a choice of Twin 19inch Flat or Twin 21 inch CRTs Also free coffee V and Guarana Plus really Faaast Swivel Chairs. Oh, yeah to get a job application you have to beat me in an arm wrestle! So, I still haven't employed anyone yet. :-) But seriously, Nish its true you would be far more productive on a bigger Monitor/VDU. Now I'm going back to my game :-) Regardz Colin J Davies

I was quite pissed recently when my management rejected my request to upgrade my 14" monitor with a 17" monitor. They instead gave me a 15" which though is better than a 14" is far from useful. I can't even use 1024x768. I can but then I'll need a magnifying glass. I mean people think only graphics designers need big monitors. I believe this wrong thinking. I mean to make full use of all the Visual Studio toolbars we really need a 17" monitor. I am pretty sure it will greatly improve my programming speed and efficiency. Your thoughts? Nish Sonork ID 100.9786 voidmain www.busterboy.org If you don't find me on CP, I'll be at Bob's HungOut

I have a 17" at work (running at 1280 x 1024) and a 17" / 15" dual monitor setup at home. We had the health and safety guy around just before Christmas and he reckons the resolutions we're running at are too high to be comfortable, so on the basis that you don't get if you don't ask I'm pushing for twin 19" monitors for team members. ;) Andy Metcalfe - Sonardyne International Ltd

By now I have reached a stage where such normally damaging information has ceased to penetrate my frozen mentality. Nothing regarding monitors pains me anymore. I am trying to convince myself that bigger-than-15" monitors are mythical things that exist only in roman legends and CP. I don't see any other way to end my misery. Well, all of you just keep telling me you have 17 and 19 and 21 inch monitors. But only two or three people have told me to try and get a better monitor. Frankly both mails won't get me a new monitor. But the advisory type mails have something wam about it. I feel like smiling wryly when I see type-2 posts. Yours is type 2 Simon. But to be frank I wish I could forward all these posts to my unaware management which I hope will open their eyes. But it won't. I use a circa 1998 21" (20" visible) Trinitron running at 1600x1200 @ 65Hz. I can't use anything smaller than 1600x1200 any more. At work I have a Sun monitor (fed by my PC and my Sun workstation) running at 1800x1440. I used to own a Dell Inspiron 7500 laptop that displayed 1400x1150 on its LCD screen and up to 1600x1200 external. Dell now offers a native 1600x1200 resolution on its 15.4" screen. Very nice! /ravi "There is always one more bug..." http://www.ravib.com ravib@ravib.com

I have a 19 inch monitor at work and a 19 inch monitor (trinitron) at home. However, at work we are upgrading all of our PIII 500's to new PC (PIV 2 GHz) and we are getting 18 inch LCD monitors (that support 1280 x 1024 resolution). I love working for a company that is on the high side of technology :) Brigg Thorp Software Engineer Timex Corporation
