Frank Hileman wrote: Are Marc's articles worthy? Absolutely Marc is in my humble opinion an accomplished programmer and he is writing the stuff that he want's to write and what's more he is giving it away free, gratis, at no charge. Just ask him how much it's gonna cost you to get him to write you something you want him to write if you really want to drive the point home. On the other hand I haven't followed the development of either his project or the Microsoft XAML so I can't comment on a technical level but I strongly suspect that if Marc's project wasn't any good then nobody would feel it was worth their time to comment on it and as they say there is no such thing as bad publicity. pseudonym67 My Articles[^] "They say there are strangers who threaten us, In our immigrants and infidels. At least he writes some! I still haven't.... I keep saying I will, then get self conscious. :~ _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. Talk about things of tomorrow and the mice in the ceiling laugh. (Japanese Proverb)

As a result of Ron's complaint, all of Marc's articles were pulled from the XAML category. check out VG.net: www.vgdotnet.com An animated vector graphics system integrated in VS.net

And of course no one has noticed that Mobiform are charging for their products so it is entirely in their interests to make life interesting for the competition. At the end of the day it's up to the Chris and co so I'll leave it to them and say nothing else on the matter. pseudonym67 My Articles[^] "They say there are strangers who threaten us, In our immigrants and infidels. I don't think the articles have been removed. [end of edit - original message below] I think Marc would be the first to point out that MyXaml isn't XAML. (Well the Microsoft variety anyway). I suppose having them under a XAML category may have mislead developers. As long as the articles still appear under .NET on CodeProject, I won't complain too much. A MyXaml category would be nice. Obviously I'm a little biased as I think MyXaml is one of the best .NET projects and have actively used it since the original articles here on CP. I'd be interested to hear the CP team's view on the moving of the articles though. Michael CP Blog [^]

Are they worthy of what? Even if you accept the "kludge" line Marc's articles are fantastic for the programming techniques and architectural strategies he displays. Also MyXaml isn't a temporary kludge to fill the gap between now and when XAML comes out. It is a fully fledged system in it's own right. It may have been inspired/influenced by XAML but Marc has taken some different roads and is not spending his time copying XAML line-for-line. Microsoft doesn't own, nor is it the leader, in the XAML domain. It is a silly arguement that chap is making, IMO. regards, Paul Watson South Africa Michael Dunn wrote: "except the sod who voted this a 1, NO SOUP FOR YOU" Crikey! ain't life grand?

The "kludge" argument was directed at companies such as Mobiform that misleadingly claim to have an Avalon clone, that forwards calls to windows forms. MyXaml is decidedly not a kludge as it works with the Windows Forms object model directly. In fact it works with any object model. That is the strength. In fact Marc was working on xml serialization before he even heard of ms-xaml -- I believe his first article was published before he heard of avalon. check out VG.net: www.vgdotnet.com An animated vector graphics system integrated in VS.net

The original question was, should Marc's articles be in the XAML category? Are they relevant? I would argue they are very relevant, and people should know about MyXaml. The second point was to get the reaction from people regarding the Mobiform position. They posted one article in the XAML category, that discusses their product in particular. There was no source code included. So Ron's argument seems untenable. check out VG.net: www.vgdotnet.com An animated vector graphics system integrated in VS.net
