I beg your pardon but the M8 is not in England! It runs between Glasgow and Edinburgh which are most definitly in Scotland ;) Windows NT crashed. I am the Blue Screen of Death. No one hears your screams.

 You are of course correct, I meant (I think, it was about 14 years ago) it was the M6, I was heading home to Scotland from London, and was heading towards Carlisle. There is a stretch of the road, must be about 10 miles long between a couple of hills, straight as an arrow, as you come down one you have a clear view of the road, and at 5am it was empty. :) Gary While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. I think I've had almost 70kph (46mph) out of a racing bike - slipstreaming a bus down a hill - not overly scary until I exited the slipstream and hit the turbulence from the bus X| Stuart Dootson 'Java, Basic, who cares - it's all a bunch of tree-hugging hippy cr*p'

I was wondering when the top bike speeds would start posting: I sprinted down a very steep hill and got up to 55mph (88.5kph) on my road bike. This was NOT SAFE as I'd been in a few crashes and my frame was misaligned. A very strong vibration started to grow in the front wheel/fork/bars before I slowed it down. It WAS fun, though :) -Justin

In a car: 110 mph (177kph) in a Chevy Cavalier (2.2L inline four) On snowmobile I can really only guess as it gets a bit hard to read the speedometer since its all "off-road" but I would guess its probably between 105-110 mph (168-177 mph) on a 700cc snowmobile. Matt Newman

About 220Kph in my '77 Chevy Malibu POS back in '86. That's when the door windows were pulled out of their seals. One broken in half and vanished into the night. Then, in 1991, about 260-270Kph in a friends MINT condition 1969 Shelby Cobra GT500 (no, I didn't drive!) The entire drive train was anything but stock - 428ci, 6-pack, NOS, ... He "stole" the car from a little old lady in Port Huron, MI for $13,500 and then dropped anther $30,000 in restoration and build-up. He was offered $65,000 for the car back in 1992 at an auto show in Detroit, but wouldn't sell. Can't really blame him! Car; 180kph in my little 1.3litre Tazz going downhill with a stiff wind behind me. Powerboat; 60mph and holy crap does it feel faster than that. Any speed on water feels a whole lot more than on land. Bits of sand from the deck up front felt like needles embedding themselves in my face. regards, Paul Watson South Africa Michael Dunn wrote: "except the sod who voted this a 1, NO SOUP FOR YOU" Crikey! ain't life grand?

I've gone almost 100mph in a jet boat and that scared the hell out of me. I was in a fishing boat with a 200HP Mercury and we were going 85 in the rain. It felt like someone was throwing drops of acid in my face. [Edit] This was supposed to be in reply to Paul Watson's message above. I tried twice and it kept putting in the wrong thread.
