Gosh, this is funny. I was looking at Raymond Chen's blog and found this entry[^] about debugging optimized assembly code. And I can debug only assembly from source level :sigh: Well, at least Mike Dunn is not much better in this regard

For once I totally disagree with Raymond. I do source level debugging in optimized code all the time. It isn't that hard as long as you understand that the debugger is lying to you half the time and you will still need to look at the assembly. Tim Smith I'm going to patent thought. I have yet to see any prior art.

Yes, I'm lazy. And proud of it. I'm happy to let Raymond carry the title of über-debugging-geek if he wants. ;) --Mike-- LINKS~! Ericahist | 1ClickPicGrabber | CP SearchBar v2.0.2 | C++ Forum FAQ | You Are Dumb

I'm humbled every time I read Raymond's blog, that man is truely talented. Too bad he wears that I'm-better-than-you attitude so often.

Any remotely useful information on my blog will be removed immediately.

Well, often he *is* better than you ;P (for you=me=42=PI, of course) Reading his blog, it never felt offensive to me, only quirky.

Don't confuse "he knows more than you" with "he thinks he's better than you." He knows a lot about Windows, he's gotten really popular, and therefore he has to deal with many people who come to his blog just to flame him, or Windows, or MS. Lately he's been sounding angry probably because he expects to get flamed. If you can ignore the /. morons and the bickerfests, there is a lot of great info in his blog. --Mike-- LINKS~! I see him getting a bit "aggitated" everytime anyone makes a crack at MS for being careless/crap/whatever, *after* Raymond's given a totally valid explanation why X, Y and Z happened to be implemented the way they are. So far I've not seen any unfitting attitudes from him. -- Weiter, weiter, ins verderben. Wir müssen leben bis wir sterben. I blog too now[^]

Don't understand each other badly, I don't speak this for you, it is a comment on which I see everyday. That badly there is in a person to say (literal or not) that is better than the other ones in some thing. This happens in a lot of areas, but it seems that in ours when somebody makes that is very worse. I felt never offended reading Raymond's blog but I know several people that don't read because they find him arrogant... Marcelo Palladino

I thought that whole discussion was basically a bunch of Tarzan-chest-pounding. I especially liked one guy's comment comparing machine language debugging to 'reading a book by analyzing its molecular structure'.
