CP Article Ranking
-
How does the article ranking system work on CP? For example there is an ASP .NET custom control article that was submitted on the 13th November and is currently scored at 4.61 but it does not appear on the "Best Picks" section of the ASP .NET tab (main page). Even though the articles that do appear were submitted around the same time and have lower scores. I also noticed that the article hasnt been mentioned in any of the news letters since the article was submitted. MrEyes, just curious not sulking post.mode = postmodes.signature; SELECT everything FROM everywhere WHERE something = something_else; > 1 Row Returned > 42

I believe it also takes into account the number of votes - more votes meaning a higher ranking.

There's a page somewhere here on CP that describes exactly how the article rating system works. AND I CAN'T FIND IT!!!! The stupid thing is, I accidentally stumbled across it a few weeks ago! Marc MyXaml Advanced Unit Testing

Isn't that the latest best picks section. My guess is it shows top ranked articles since last fortnight.:~

The 'Best Picks' section is actually the "Latest Best Picks" section, meaning only the latest articles (in this case, an arbitrary value of those posted in the last 2 weeks) are shown. Let me know the title of the article you are referrring to and I'll check my newsletter archive to see if it was overlooked. cheers, Chris Maunder

Maybe this[^]? Rating is the sum of all votes divided by the number of votes. Voting can only be done by registered members and a persons vote is weighted by their level. Popularity is a measure of how much interest an article generates once it's been read. It's calculated as Rating x Log10(# Votes) cheers, Chris Maunder
