This quote sums it up. From http://text.broadbandreports.com/shownews/58230[^] I spent 2 hours on the phone with Verizon in the last 24 hours. I was told that for "security reasons", Verizon IS blocking ALL out of the US emails. They, also, admit that "verification", "bounce back", and "automated response" emails are not getting through. I can NOT update my MS "passport". I can NOT get support from KAV. I can NOT get "reply notifications" from any forum, including this one. Their support tech got on my PC any verified all my setting are correct and admits it's a Verizon problem. Their solution: Every time I DON'T receive an email, I should call Verizon and they will manually add these URLs to only MY emails allow list. It will take approximately 2 weeks for the changes to take place. Is this for real? Incredible. Interestingly... why aren't rival companies jumping up to offer "free six months business e-mail when you leave verizon", etc? It seems like the christmas present every corporate e-mail provider dreams of - another fuck up by a company that seems almsot as incompetant as BT.

So they previously blocked all those "noreply@domain.com" e-mails too? Classic. If you have a Verizon e-mail account you can't use a) product support lists, b) online discussion forums, c) opt-in newsletters, d) routers which e-mail their logs, etc, etc. Talk about approaching a problem backwards, upside down and blind drunk... :omg: Like that guy says, if a server repeatedly opens connections to my mail server only to hang up after probing it I will block it thinking it is a spam bot trying to find an open relay. I honestly can't believe any technically-competant person - even at Verizon - would sit down and draw up a solution like this.

That is funny. I just did read that 42.11% of spam is coming from US... :omg: Maybe their next security step is to block also all US mails. The "Dirty Dozen" 2004: Sophos reveals the top spamming countries [^]

Somewhere there is a manager looking at a graph of incoming spam and saying, "can you block that region?" He'll get there soon.... _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. Talk about things of tomorrow and the mice in the ceiling laugh. (Japanese Proverb)

I honestly can't believe any technically-competant person - even at Verizon - would sit down and draw up a solution like this. It's probably because of the executives thinking they know everything and not listening to the techs, or the techs could be morons. Look at the bright side, they'll loose the business of international companies and with luck Verizon will shut down. You see, it's just another form of natural selection. :) Jeremy Falcon
